Roman's POV

It's Veronica's birthday today.

She still hasn't been found. And as the days stretched into a week, the absence of Veronica weighed heavy on my heart like a lead weight. Not a single moment passed without the thought of her consuming my mind. Every corner of the city was searched, every lead followed, but still, there was no sign of her.

I hadn't stopped looking, not for one minute. Every spare moment was spent combing through the city, chasing down rumours and whispers, hoping for some clue, some sign of where she might be.

Miguel and his friends were by my side every step of the way, their determination matching my own. Together, we spared no effort in our search, enlisting the help of the best investigators and trackers money could buy.

But the Morrotos were elusive, like shadows slipping through our fingers. They knew how to cover their tracks, how to disappear without a trace.

As the days dragged on, frustration turned to desperation. I felt like a caged animal, trapped in a nightmare with no end in sight. But I refused to give up hope. Not now, not ever.

Veronica was out there somewhere, and I would find her, no matter the cost. The Morrotos may think they can hide from justice, but they had underestimated the determination of those who loved her.

With each passing day, our resolve only grew stronger. We would hunt them down, track them to the ends of the earth if we had to. And when we finally found them, they would pay for what they had done.

As the days passed and Veronica's absence continued, rumours began to spread like wildfire through the underworld. The news of her kidnapping had reached the ears of every ambitious mafia leader in Spain, and they saw it as an opportunity to seize power.

Meetings were held daily among the various mafia factions, each one vying for dominance in Veronica's absence. They argued and schemed, their eyes filled with greed and ambition.

Some believed that a mafia leader who could be kidnapped was unfit to lead, and they saw Veronica's disappearance as a chance to rise to power. They plotted to undermine her authority, spreading rumours and lies to discredit her name.

Others saw Veronica's absence as a sign of weakness, an opportunity to strike at her organisation and claim her territory for themselves. They mobilised their forces, preparing for a violent takeover if necessary.

But amidst the chaos and infighting, there were those who remained loyal to Veronica, determined to uphold her legacy and protect her interests until she could return.

Miguel and I attended every meeting, our presence a silent reminder of Veronica's strength and resilience. We fought tooth and nail to defend her honour, to keep her organisation intact until she could reclaim her rightful place at its head.
