[Meribel catches up to Bruno and outright asks him what's been going on.  At first, Bruno tries to brush her off and walk away, but she persists, following him and expressing her concerns.]

Meribel: Bruno, what's going on?  Why have you been going out so much?

[Bruno attempts to evade the question again, and Meribel can tell that she's close to a breaking point.]

Meribel: There are suspicions going around in the house.  People are starting to question whether or not you care.  But I know you do.  So, why are you avoiding us?

[Bruno, hearing the strain in Meribel's voice, stops and sighs heavily.  He puts his hands on her shoulders and looks down.]

Bruno: I'm not avoiding you guys.  I just...  I just wish it could have been me.  I got sick too, you know?  Nobody really liked me until recently.  Heck, Pepa now, she doesn't like me all over again!  It wouldn't be as devastating if...  if...

[Meribel hugs him tightly, feeling his pain as her own.  He hugs her back, and his voice is barely a whisper as he continues.]

Bruno: I can't stop thinking about it.  Seeing how worried everyone is just makes it worse.  And...  seeing her, seeing Isabella...

[Meribel tries to reassure him, her voice steady despite the emotions swirling inside her.]

Meribel: It's not true, Bruno.  Everyone would be just as worried if it was you.  This is hard for everybody.  You don't have to face it alone.  That's what family does, they're there for each other.

[Bruno says nothing, but nods in acknowledgment, letting Meribel lead him back to the house, where they'll face the uncertainty and pain together as a family.]
