[As Meribel gradually calms down, Abuela wipes away her tears but continues to hold her close.]
Abuela: You and Isabella have gotten very close these last few months. I've seen it.
[Meribel nods, her voice soft as she reflects on their relationship.]
Meribel: Since everything happened, since Bruno's been back, Isabella's just... been there for me... so I can be there for everyone else. She always seems to know when I'm stressed. She lets me into her room. I feel like I can tell her anything. Sometimes, it feels like we can just sit in there and talk for hours. Of everyone in the family, I never would've thought Isabella would end up being the one I'd be like that with.
[She gulps, and Abuela gently rubs her arm in understanding.]
Meribel: I don't know what I'm gonna do without her, but... I guess I'll have to find a way.
[Abuela looks down, her brow furrowing in realization of the burden Meribel has been carrying for the rest of the family. She strokes her granddaughter's face tenderly and suggests that perhaps Meribel should have some time to rest after all of this is over.]
Abuela: Dinner should be ready soon. We should both get cleaned up.
[Meribel nods, and Abuela hands her back her glasses. As Meribel puts them back on, they head towards the door. Just before Abuela opens it, Meribel looks at her, her expression filled with uncertainty.]
Meribel: Does it ever get easier? Not having Abuelo?
[Abuela's face softens with sadness, and she shakes her head.]
Abuela: Not really. But life goes on. I still keep him close, just in a different way. And we'll do the same for Isabella.
[With those reassuring words, they both head out of the room, ready to face whatever lies ahead together.]
