"First years! First years!" A voice called out, "Gryffindor first years!"

"Must be this year's Prefect," mumbled Fred.

"We all know that's what Percy wants to be when the time comes," replied George.

"Prefect Percy," I snigger.

We all laughed as we made our way down to where all the Gryffindor 1st years are. The great hall was full of people, and it made me scowl. I'm uncomfortable around lots of people, and there was more than a normal amount around me.

We walked and walked and walked, which seemed exaggerated, but it was true. The staircases kept moving, and we were caught on one, and a person was leaning over onto the railing. She fell over the side, and was dangling, holding on the railing, screaming her face off. It was funny to watch, especially when Daina, I think her name was, came up. Her face matched the skin tone not unlike the ghosts. But she looked, familiar.

I felt a shuffling beside me. Looking over my shoulder I saw Lee push his way beside us, "Hey, what do you think the common room would look like?"

"I dunno, it could be anything," I reply, "a rainforest, a river, a Greek temple!" I get all excited. I love Greek mythology.

"It's a normal common room, idiots. Slythern was already through theirs and now hanging out around the castle," someone said.

It was the girl who I ran into on the train, "Maybe if you were nice, your fashion sense would grow. 'Cause right now, like your heart, it's stupid."

I seemed to have stepped on a nerve, "fight. Tomorrow, beside the dark forest. See you and you're sorry butt there."

I snigger, "unlike your sorry butt. It would be black and blue instead."

Everyone laughed. Whatshername scowled, turned point on heel, and left, her face red. She lost.

"Don't worry, Avery. You can beat them!" Lee told me.

"Trust me, I guarantee it," Fred followed.

"See, she'll cry as soon as she punches you, because 'Oh! I broke a nail!'" George imitated.

"Don't worry, guys. Why would I lose?"

"She's got a point there, you know."

We continued to our common room, laughing the whole way.

"Wow." We stare around at the - our cozy common room.

The fire roared in the pit, and the couches were all surrounding it. There was a few work tables in the back, and everything - well, almost everything was red and gold. I loved it instantly. There were two stairways. One for the girl's dorm's, and one for the boys. This was our home now for the next seven years.

"- your stuff is already in you're dorm." I heard the prefect finish.

Fred and George went one way, I went the other. The staircase wound its way up, many doors along the way. But this year, the first years dorms were at the top. So all of the younger girls walked, and walked, and walked again. Most people would think it was over-exaggerated, but after that day, it felt like forever.

First year's, read the doors sign. I pushed it open to be greeted by two other girls. They stared at me, their eyes wide. It's like they've never seen a human being before. I went over to the bed that said Avery Weasely and sat down. The four poster bed had many designs on the pole and woven cloth, and it was the only bed that had it. Almost as if it was special. Different.

The door opened and closed once again, then one last time a few seconds later. I counted how many girls were in our dorm. Four, plus me was five, but there were six beds, with all of the person's stuff on it! It's strange, because there were only five people.

Diana. That's who was missing. She probably fell off another staircase, or even worse, gone up to the boy's dormitories. That would be embarrassing.

"Whoa guys! Look at the view!" One of the girls said.

We all crowded around the window, eager to see outside.

"Whoooah! That's awesome! You can see practically the whole school!"

"Look at the Quidditch pitch! It's huge!"

"The dark forest gives me the creeps."

"All I know is that it's beautiful."

"It's home." I say.

We all sit down on our bed's.

"Where's Diana?" I ask.

"Probably lost." Someone answered.

"Ok. I know none of your names except for one. Let's go around the circle saying them." Someone else said.

"Good idea."

We start at the bed closest to the door.

"My name is Marley."

Marley is a bigger girl. She has full cheeks, and large dimples when she talks or smiles. Her dyed blue hair comes down to her shoulders, and she is about average hight.

"I'm Beatrice, and I love me!"

Beatrice is what you would think a cool girl would be. She has her hair straightened, it was obviously curly before. She has a thin face, not a mole, freckle, or pimple on it, and it was decked with makeup. I shuddered.

"My turn?" Everyone shrugged and nodded their heads, "my name is-" the door slammed.

"Diana!" The girl who was telling us her name ran up and hugged her, "where were you?"

"Nowhere important. Ok, Cleo," Diana said.

Cleo was from a Asian race. She had a tanned colour and dark brown hair, with multiple braids in it. She was slim, but tall. She looked kind.

Diana though, could be from Canada or farther up the U.S.A country. She had a flatter accent like me, and, well she looked familiar! Her straight blonde hair cascaded down to her hips, and it had a few waves. She was a little shorter, but well built. She also looked like she was in a lot of sports. But she was clumsy.

"My name is Sandra, but people call me Sandy." And everyone turned their heads to her.

Sandy came from the Mediterranean, her skin was tanned although she was English. She looked like she could be cool, her dirty blonde hair has pink streaks in it, but she sounded shy, and she seemed to cower.

"We all know who you are, Avery. Don't worry about all of that trouble." Beatrice spoke.

"My name is Avery Weasley, but my last name used to be Calson."

"Hey! I know you!" A excited Diana spoke, "we were in the same cabin at Dallas Valley Ranch Camp! we were in martingale! Remember the cramped living space?"

"Yes! I do! I thought I recognized you! You live in Regina, right?"

"Exactly. And you lived in that small town somewhere. I forget what it's called, but you're softball team is called the Panthers. I remember playing it."

"Sure. Say that."

From that point on I knew it was going to be a good 7 years.

I am terrible at being sassy. It's official.

Buuuutttt, Dallas Valley Ranch and Bible Camp is for real, and I do go to it, and I love it.

So, there is going to be a fight. Possibly. Probably not. But it's going to be awesome!
