THE MALFOYS

chapter three

   "Serena! You're okay!" Serena heard as she was engulfed into a hug by her best friend.

   "Hey, Luna. Hey, Neville." She said as she hugged the girl back, still kind of shaken up from the attack.

   Neville glanced over to Mr. Malfoy and Draco who were talking with the authorities. "So what are they ruling this as?"

Serena crossed her arms. "They had to take my wand overnight to see the last spells I used and they ruled me out as the suspect when they saw the counter spell I used to deflect the one the attacker used."

  "Your kidding?" Neville said. "You wouldn't of dared to hurt, Mrs. Norbirt."

   Serena shook her head. "She's done too much for me. The woman practically raised me."

  "Is that Nathaniel?" Luna asked, looking at the Auror talking to Draco.

  "Yes. He came home last night." Serena told him. "She opened the door thinking it was him."

  "How sad!" Luna replied. "I can't imagine."

    "Me either." She said looking at Draco, who glanced at her while still engaged with his conversation with Nathaniel.

  "Please don't tell me your angry at him." Luna says, rolling her eyes.

  "Then I won't tell you." She said, glaring.

"Its not like he's the one who killed her. It was just a terrible coincidence. If you had been the one to anwser that door-"

  "Then the guy would have gotten what he wanted. Leaving an innocent old woman alone and I wouldn't been here with another death on my ledger." Serena replied.

   Neville sighed. "Serena that wasn't your fault either."

  Nathaniel then walked up to the group as another Auror asked to talk to Draco. "Hey, Serena you alright?" He asked her, putting his hands into his pockets.

  "I should be the one asking you that." She told him.

  Nathaniel sighed, "This wasn't you fault. It's been happening a lot since the war."

  "What do you mean?" Serena asked him.

"The Malfoy's aren't the only ones being targeted. The Rockwoods were found murdered in their sleep just a few nights ago." He told her. "Its why I'm back earlier than what I was supposed to be."

  "Fuck." Serena said. "What did I marry into?"

  Nathaniel chucked. "If it helps anything your husband has been really helpful. You got you a good guy, Serena."

   "Thanks." She told him.

The Auror who was to Draco walked over and handed Serena back her wand. "Sorry for all the trouble."

  She took it and said, "Your just doing your job."

  The Auror gave her a small smile and walked away. Draco then walked over to the group and Serena rolled her eyes, making Luna nudge her, earning a glare. "Alright, they said we were free to go." Draco said, his eyes not leaving Serena.

   Serena didn't say a word.

Luna sighed. "My dad wanted to let you know he's giving you the next few days off to rest."

  "Tell him I said thank you, but I don't need it."

  "I think its good if you-"

"I said don't need it!" Serena snapped, glaring at Draco.
