To My Dearest Love,
I have written this over and over, but each time I crumple the paper and throw it away.
For a time, we loved each other deeply,
Yet now my memories of us are slowly fading.
I feel as if I'm drowning each time I remember your love,
Grasping at the emptiness of an ocean with nothing to hold on to.I lose myself when I'm with you.
You put yourself first, and I do the same-
Two souls entwined,
Two souls drifting apart.
I made myself small to create space in your life.Ashamed of this definition of love, I never faced you during the quiet of the night.
In the sadness of love outgrown,
I will forever remember your love as I write these words.
I believe parting now is best for both of us,
For in the echoes of this empty space,
A storm of emotions, fierce and raw,
Yet in this final moment,
I let go of what once was dear.-Chanté Buchanan
