"I wish I could come with dad and bhai too." Anaya said with a sad voice.
"Even I wanted to meet you, but you know that only father, brother and other male cousins of yours can come right."
"Hmm.."
Suddenly someone knocked at the door.
"Veer ji, Amrit and dad have come. Aa jaao aap bhi" Manheer said from out.
"Haan aya" he said to her and then again went on call,"Sohneyo Amrit and Abhiraaj papa have come, I'll talk later."
"Haan theek hai but send me pictures!!" Anaya said.
Shubh chuckled and said "theek hai aur kuch chahiye toh farmaaein."
"Nothing!! I love you!"
"I love you too. Byee."
"Byee."
And with this he hanged up the phone and descended downstairs.
He was wearing a white kurta pajama and a turban on his head.
The floor of the haveli was covered with white cloth and everyone was barefoot, with covered heads because Sri Guru Granth Sahib (the holy book of Sikhs) were in the haveli because of the Saahi Chithi.
Saahi Chithi refers to the True invitation given in the presence of Lord by the bride's family to the Groom's.
In ancient times, a lot of people used to fix the wedding date, have the engagement and the roka ceremony, and when the dates of wedding used to come close, either of the family from bride or groom used to threaten to break the marriage if their wishes were not fulfilled.
Sometimes, they even used to step back from the wedding if they found some better proposal.
Many a times they used to completely behave like no proposal was ever made and no wedding rituals were ever done if anyone tried to take a step against them.
All this because in ancient times, there were no cameras that could click pictures or have proof that yes, they have fixed the wedding.
So the culture of Saahi Chithi was started where the men from both the families gather together and sign on the paper and keep it as a proof.
The ones who sign on the letter need not to be blood related, but someone close to them, for example, friends, neighbours etc.
And since this used to be done in front of Guru Granth Sahib and the paathi ji (the priest), nobody used to dare to step back from it.
It also is a proof that says that before the wedding, both the family members agreed to it because in earlier times, people do used to lie regarding this.
Till date, the Saahi Chithi is considered as a valid proof in courts if one of the family then disagrees.
If the disagreement is mutual, there are no issues.
But the only issue is, people stepping back from their words and lieing.
Hence, the custom of Saahi Chithi was formed in Sikh weddings.
With everyone covering their heads, sat infront of the Granth Sahib while the priest read the scripture.
Once it was done, the Saahi Chithi, brought by Anaya's family was opened and read out loud infront of everyone by Shubhveer's paternal uncle, Manheer's father, Sahib.

"We are pleased to invite you to the auspicious occasion of the wedding ceremony of your respected son, Shubhveer Singh Gill and our beloved daughter Anaya Shekhawat, which will take place on [date] at [time] at [location]. We request your presence and blessings on this joyous occasion. As per the saying, "May the union be blessed with the presence of the Guru and the pleasure of the Lord," we humbly request your participation in the Baraat procession and your gracious presence at the ceremony. Thank you."

"If everyone agrees for the pure bond between Sardaar Shubhveer Singh Gill and Bibi Anaya Shekhawat, please sign on the Saahi Chithi." The priest said.
From the Groom's side,

Signed the chithi.
From the Bride's side,
Abhiraaj, Anaya's father, Amrit, his brother, Rajshri, the helper, Arjun, Amrit's bestfriend, Rudra, Amrit's personal assistant, Maurya, Arjun's father
Signed the chithi.
The moment everything was done, everybody clapped and forwarded gifts and sweets to each other.
