The best thing about recovery was that I didn't have to perform for others but the worst thing was that it left me with my thoughts...[Selene]

Selene struggled to push through her pain feeling the shakes come over her again. Mrs. C watched her, "It's not time for the morphine yet."

Selene held onto the button waiting for it to turn green, "My stomach is fucking killing me."

"You know the morphine is only lasting until tonight. After that, it's rehab and vocal training." Mrs. C spoke cheerfully.

Selene shook her head, "You heard what the doctor said."

"He said you'll have to do vocal training and muscle exercises until you can sing again. You just have to rest until your body is ready." Mrs. C was clear in her words.

"What if I don't wanna sing anymore?" Selene asked quietly.

Mrs. C scooted her chair up hovering over her, "Girl, you got a talent that God gave you and you telling me all it takes is for a knife to your gut to throw you off your dream?"

"Was singing my dream or your dream, Auntie?" Selene squinted her eyes at her aunt.

Mrs. C sighed, "Selene, don't play with me right now. We agreed on this."

"What? That I wouldn't reveal that you're my aunt? Or that you stole the trust fund money that was mine?"

Before Mrs. C could respond the hospital door opened revealing Oakley. He carried a small stuffed teddy bear and flowers, "I'm sorry I'm late. The plane was delayed."

Mrs. C stood up from her chair smiling, "It's okay. I'm just glad you're here to support Selene."

Selene watched as she took the gifts and placed them on her tray table. She avoided Walid's eyes as he opened the door to let Mrs. C out.

"Could you give Cee and me some privacy?" Selene asked Walid.

He nodded stepping outside of her hospital room. Selene smiled brightly at Oakley.

"How are you feeling?" Oakley asked kissing her cheek.

"Good now that you're here."

Selene hit her morphine drip eager to erase the main she was feeling in her stomach. Cench sat next to her hospital bed humming one of his favorite songs. Selene closed her eyes feeling the drugs wash over her.

"How long do I have to stay in this bed?" She asked trying not to open her stitches.

Oakley cleared his throat eyeing her heart monitor, "The doctor says you can leave tomorrow."

"I wanna go home." Her voice cracked with emotion.

Oakley eyed the closed door. He knew Walid was standing behind listening to them. Since the stabbing, he had been closely watching Selene, never leaving her side.
