I didn't think I'd ever hear those words from him...[Selene]

Selene leaned against the foggy window watching the rain fall in pellets. Walid was out and she was stuck at the house. She dialed Oakley's number waiting to hear his voice. He picked up on the third ring.

"Hey." She spoke drawing doodles on the foggy window.

"How are you?" He asked her eager to hear her voice.

"Good now. Walid's got me somewhere private. Has anyone talked about who could've trashed my place?" She questioned watching the trees blow in the distance.

He hesitated, "Mrs. C has some thoughts but she's upset Walid hasn't updated her about your whereabouts."

Selene sucked her teeth, "Fucking Walid."

"We're heading to our last few shows this week. Do you think you can make it?" Oakley asked her.

Selene could hear her friends doing vocal tone-ups in the back. She rubbed her neck wanting to sing. She wanted her life back. Selene missed Star and Alex. She missed the cramped tour bus and the cold hotels.

"Yeah. I know where the location is." She said eyeing Walid's car pulling into the driveway.

"I can't wait to see you," Oakley told her trying to get away from the muffled noises in the background.

"Yeah, me too. I'll see you in a little bit, okay?" She said hitting the end call button.

Selene went upstairs to her room packing her bags. She could hear the pitter-patter of feet running up the stairs. She gasped when a rough-looking German shepherd approached her. The dog whined sniffing her legs.

Walid leaned against the door frame, "You're leaving?"

Selene stayed quiet continuing to stuff her bag. The dog bumped her legs sensing her abrupt departure. Walid whistled and the dog came over immediately.

He patted the dog's head, "Rocky, sit."

"I can't stay locked up anymore." She told him wiping her wet eyes and refusing to let him see her cry.

Walid stood still watching her closely, "You still haven't healed yet."

"Please, it's been over three weeks. I'm fine." Selene zipped up her bag and faced him.

"So what? What happens when you get on stage and you freeze? PTSD is a bitch, Selene." Walid told her stepping closer to her.

She avoided his eyes not ready to face him, "I can't just sit here and rot while you look for my stalker."

"It's somebody close to you, Selene. They're smart and they're working with someone else."

"I can't be scared anymore, Walid. You haven't figured it out and no one will. I almost died and lost my fucking dream." Selene cut herself off feeling her emotions swirl within him.

Walid lifted her chin, "Look me in my eyes and tell me you're ready to get back up on that stage?"

Selene took a deep breath, "Take me to the airport."

"Oh my God! When did you get back?" Star shouted as Selene entered the dressing room.

Selene smiled hugging Star feeling the warm energy radiate from her body, "I just landed."

Alex smiled across the dressing room finishing her makeup, "Where's the beefy bodyguard?"

Selene looked over her shoulder to the busy hallway behind her, "Back on another assignment in Japan."

"What? Did y'all fuck?" Star lowered her voice and dragged her deeper inside the dressing room.

"No! Plus, I think Oakley is gonna ask me to be his girlfriend soon." Selene said putting her bag down on her in her reserved make up chair.

"Ohhh, trouble in paradise then." Alex said eyeing Star.

"What happened?" Selene asked pulling her outfit of the night off the rack.

"Word on the street is he's got a new girl since you've been gone." Star told her showing her Cench's Instagram story.

"Well I'm back now so.."

Before Selene could finish her sentence Mrs. C came into the room, "I thought I heard your voice."

"Hi Auntie." Selene said giving her a soft smile.

Alex and Star smiled, "At least all your relationships ain't broken."

Mrs. C touched her face smiling, "You think you ready for tonight?"

"Yeah. I'm ready to get back on that stage."

Mrs. C nodded, "I'm proud of you. I'm glad you're safe. You're safe here."

She nodded, "And Auntie?"

"Hm?"

"I know singing was your dream but it's my dream too."

Selene stood off to the side waiting for the music to start playing. She smoothed the wrinkles out of her jumpsuit and took a deep breath.

"You're gonna do great." Oakley said wrapping his arms around her.

She smiled, "Glad I'm back?"

"Mhm, I missed you." He said kissing her lips.

Mrs. C cleared her throat, "You two love birds done? You gotta get your mind together for the stage."

"Sorry, Mrs. C it won't happen again." Oakley told her backing away from Selene.

"You better watch yourself girl. Not everyone is good for you." Mrs. C whispered a few words of advice to her.

Selene, more confident than ever, nodded, "I'm ready for whatever."

Selene smiled hearing their song begin the play. The audience erupted into madness making the stage shake.

She turned to the side but stopped seeing Nadine. Her heart began to race seeing the familiar tour manager. Her eyes looked familiar and a spooky feeling came over her.

Shrugging the thought off she grabbed her microphone hearing Star speak on stage, "Our girl is back y'all! Take Three is officially back!"
