At the end of this story, I didn't die not like Nadine intended me to. But pieces of me will never recover from this...[Selene]

Selene stood next to Walid's hospital bed watching the heart monitor beep continuously. He was sleeping after his successful surgery. She held the bullet they pulled out of his arm in her hand. Its gold heaviness made her stomach churn. Oakley stood next to her watching him intensely.

"When were you gonna tell me you had feelings for him?" Cench asked her grazing her hand with his.

She cleared her throat brashly moving her hands in front of her, "There was nothing to talk to you about."

He tried to hide his flicker of jealousy, "My fucking best friend, Selene?"

She turned to him angrily, "You were my best friend and you were nowhere to be found when all this shit was going down."

Cee shook his head, "Nah. It ain't like that."

"What was it like then?" Selene questioned turning her attention back to the man she loved lying in the hospital bed.

"You could've come to me, you know? Instead of letting all of this shit linger."

"How could I? You were too focused on what I could provide for you rather than what was actually going on in my life. I bet you didn't even know I was taking pills, did you? But, Walid...he noticed everything about me."

Oakley swallowed the guilt. Taking his loss he placed a card on the hospital table, "Give him my best will you."

Selene whispered watching him exit the room, "I will."

Walid's eyes fluttered open and he groaned feeling the loopiness of the medication, "Selene?"

She crouched closer to the bed careful not to put too much weight on his body, "How much of that did you hear?"

He chuckled, "Enough."

"Always in bodyguard mode." She said running a hand over his curly hair.

Walid took a second to look at her. He was glad that she was the first thing he saw when he woke up, "Hi."

Selene sent him a bright smile, "How are you feeling?"

"Nauseous."

"It's the medication. It should be wearing off in a few."

Walid nodded taking her hand in his. He savored the warmth as he caressed her soft skin. Selene could tell he was thinking hard. The dim room made the two feel like encapsulated lovers. It was just them two against the world.

"Those nightmares you used to have..."

"Mhm."

"They were premonitions. I'm upset I couldn't protect you. It was my fucking job."

Selene eyed the heart monitor as the beeping got louder, "Shhh, it's okay. You did exactly what you needed to do Walid."

"No, I just-"

She cut him off, "Kiss me."

Selene leaned down allowing her lips to press against his. She hummed lowly at how gentle he felt underneath her. Walid's thoughts ceased at that moment. giving him all the clarity he needed.

"I love you, Walid. Please don't let what happened burden you, please. You're the best man I've ever known. Without you, I wouldn't be here."

For the first time, he cracked a loopy dazed smile, "I love you too."

Selene stood on the bright stage a year later with Star and Alex beside her. The stadium was sold out making it one of their biggest shows to date. The girls had just arrived on stage and the crowd continued to cheer for them.

"Most of you all know I was dealing with a lot the past year. With my sisters beside me, we created an album that would change the trajectory of our career. I want to thank you all tonight for continuously supporting us as we journey! Without further ado, re-introducing Take 3!"

The lights dimmed as the spotlights shone on their pretty dresses. Selene looked to the right wing of the stage seeing Walid smiling proudly. Back then he never used to smile, not until Selene came into his life. She smiled back as the music began to rock the stadium.

She focused on the front of the stage and opened her mouth to sing. With the past behind her and a fresh outlook on life, Selene had grown into a strong woman and an even better singer.
