Four months passed, and the snow was gone, but it was still a little bit cold.
Derius has done everything he could to help his sister, and He had turned for help from the ministry, he tried to fight his way in, he tried to help her escape at every opportunity he could, and every time he, Luke, Gabrielle or Jessica was so close to it, So did they fail.
Charmist was always by Luke's side and helped him with letters as she never wanted to sleep anywhere else than in Lucinda's room
The funeral for Minix was simple and beautiful. She had got her last resting place under a tree by Collins Lake with a small garden that Derius visited every time he was out for a ride.
The only help they had now was from the Headmistress Mole, he had written to her and she was doing her best too to find a way to save Lucinda and keep an eye on her for now.
The last letter Derius got from the Headmistress, made him worried sick, and was so close to losing hope. But he wouldn't let himself go so low:
"Dear young Mr Khain.
I don't know what to write this time,
I saw Ms Khain being forced behind a shop in the alley of London to cast the unforgivable curse Curcio on a simple muggler.
There have been many times when she could have been sent to Azkaban, but I have been speaking to the Ministry and they have turned a blind eye for now.I know that the sweet Miss. Khain is still there, I saw her alone, break into tears, and she couldn't keep her dinner. As she was begging something to stay quiet, it seemed that the dark art had begun to affect her too.
That poor girl is so thin now, that I barely recognize her.
But she is also just like your dear mother Marietta, Stubborn and strong.
Let your mother's strength lead you too, We will find a way.
All good wishes and hopes from your friend.
Eupraxia Mole"
Luke had studied more and more about Lucinda's abilities and it was like he thought that night in the Library, Lucinda has that rare ability of Magicaemency and that was the reason why she made that vow, she wouldn't let them get hurt by her fathers doing and the same for them. If they get hurt, well badly hurt by any of Mr. Khain's doing so, would that kill both her and Mr. Khain.
All this had driven Derius into deep depression, he had only held himself in the stable and in the bedroom, holding Luke close to make sure that nothing happened to him too and he had asked Gabrielle and Jessica to stay with them. All to make sure that they didn't risk anything. This was their routine now. Thinking, planning, eating, and keeping their eyes on Derius so he wouldn't lose hope.
On the other side of London in the Khain mansion, so was Lucinda dressed up for an evening ball that was held by the family Gaunt, her dress was all black, with no sleeves and a very decorated upper body with feathers, lace, and small pearls, the bottom was light in weight and laid gently down after her body, not after her form but also not as puffy as the other ladies was, her hair was half loose and half put up in a simple yet decorated why, just like her dress, it was elegant and eye-catching, yet expensive, and the latest fashion of course. Her father wanted her to look her very best, especially tonight.
"Oh, my dear daughter tonight will you for sure outshine any other young lady."
He looked proud and pleased that he had finally got his daughter to obey his every wish. She was also a good sister to her younger siblings, the twins Isabella and Rebecca who were now three years old.
