It wasn't supposed to be like this.

They were just...supposed to be teammates.

Of course it had happened before.

Look at Max and Daniel. Kimi and Seb. Carlos and Charles.

Sometimes teammates became more than teammates or friends. Sometimes they fell in love.

Orrrr....

Sometimes just one of the two fell in love and the other one didn't.

Unrequited love was the worst.

So honestly, the last thing on Lando's mind was to fall in love with his new teammate.

He'd suffered from those unrequited ones two times already. It was honestly two times too many.

So this time, he didn't even let the thought of seeing Oscar more than just a friend dare to cross his mind.

It was too dangerous. He didn't want to get into heartbreak territory once again.

Imagine his surprise when things went just a little bit different this time.....

He faintly remembers just talking to Oscar (more like talking his ears off) like he usually did, because between the two of them, Oscar was the quiet one. The reserved one.

Lando definitely didn't expect the quiet reserved one to suddenly kiss him out of nowhere.

He gently pushed him back, "What are you doing, Oscar?"

A million different emotions crossed across Oscar's face before he scolded it into a determined one.

"Well, I'm sorry I fell in love with you, okay? But it happened and I can't do shit about it."

Lando is absolutely speechless for a moment.

"You.... What?"

This can't be happening.

For the first time Lando didn't let himself fall in love, his teammate falls in love with him?!

He feels rather than sees Oscar retract from him.

He would hold him back, but doesn't feel like he can. He's not allowed.

Realization seems to have hit the younger boy.

"Oh."

"Oscar..."

"It's fine."

"No, Oscar. Wait." This time Lando does reach out. Fingers curling around Oscar's wrist.

Oscar looks at the other papaya boy silently. Waiting.

"Look let's just.... Take it slow, okay? There's no need to rush."

He's rushed these things too many times already.

For once he wants to do it right.

Oscar stares at him, searching for something...

"Okay," he finally breathes out and Lando lets out a breath as well. "Let's do that."

The radiating smile on Oscar's face lets Lando know that maybe he can fall in love with his teammate and it'll have an happy ending after all.
