"So what's your verdict? Am I crazy? Am I going mad? Or am I cursed?"

FROM THE MOMENT IVY ENTERED THIS WORLD, her existence was shrouded in darkness. Her mother's pregnancy was fraught with pain, a foreboding sign of the trials to come. As the weeks turned into months, Ivy's mother found herself besieged by waves of discomfort that seemed to emanate from within. Each passing day brought with it a new level of torment as if the very essence of her unborn child carried with it a burden too heavy to bear.

When Ivy finally emerged into the world, she brought with her an eerie silence, never once crying out like other infants. It was a stark contrast to the typical chorus of newborn cries that filled the delivery room.

As Ivy lay cradled in the arms of the midwife, her mother's initial reaction was not one of the expected maternal warmth and affection, but rather a profound sense of unease and apprehension. And as the nurse tried to place the baby girl in her arms, her mother recoiled instinctively, a surge of panic coursing through her veins. "Get that thing away from me," her mother had whispered.

Growing up, Ivy never experienced the warmth of a loving home. Instead, she was met with a coldness that chilled her to the bone—a sense of rejection that seemed to seep into every corner of her existence.

Her mother, consumed by fear and superstition, regarded Ivy with a mixture of disdain and apprehension. From a young age, Ivy could sense her mother's unease whenever she drew near, a tangible barrier that kept them apart even in the moments when they should have been closest. The simple act of a mother's embrace was a luxury Ivy could only dream of, her touch deemed too dangerous to risk.

Instead of nurturing and affection, Ivy was met with avoidance, her mother recoiling from even the slightest hint of physical contact. It was a rejection that cut deep, leaving Ivy to navigate the complexities of her curse alone in a world that seemed determined to keep her at arm's length.

As Ivy grew older, the distance between her and her mother only seemed to widen, a gaping chasm of misunderstanding and fear that threatened to swallow them both whole. As she struggled to come to terms with the rejection she faced at home, Ivy couldn't help but wonder if she would ever find solace in the embrace of another—or if her curse would condemn her to a lifetime of loneliness and isolation.

Locked away from the outside world, Ivy was left to confront the demons that haunted her every waking moment, the guilt, the fear, and the overwhelming sense of isolation that threatened to consume her from within. Surrounded by the constant hum of fluorescent lights and the hollow echoes of distant voices, she felt more alone than ever before.

With each passing day, she clung to the hope that one day, she would find a way to break free from the chains that bound her and reclaim her place in the world outside. She dared to imagine a world beyond the suffocating walls of her prison—a world where she was no longer bound by the shackles of her curse, where her touch no longer spelled death and destruction.
