I am standing in the doorway of the University. In the town I have always been in, where I grew up.

It was my first day as a Freshman in college, a place that I am unfamiliar with. Even though I have lived in this town my whole life, I haven't stepped foot near this university since I was younger.

Growing up, I did not really have anyone. I was mostly alone with only a few friends. Even though I was quiet and not well known I had my brother. My brother, Alejandro, is a junior in the same university I am going to attend. He is the football team's quarterback and captain, which makes everyone fall to his feet and made them scared of him. He is very
overprotective of me and my little sister Mariana. He was the guy everyone wanted to be or be with, but he was precise and aways kept to himself.

Although he had many friends, they were all bullies and dickheads. But even if his friends were pricks, he would always demand them to stop being that way and of course they would listen to him especially if they were messing with me.

He is very protective, and I understand why. He got my sister and I back on our feet and back into school, getting us a new home after my mom passed away and my dad was in prison.

We don't talk about how our parents ended up where they are now, and when my little sister tries to talk about it, we always just avoid it or change the subject.

I know it is hard for him to work and go to school, but I envy him for it. He is the reason I got into this school on a dance scholarship. I have been dancing for as long as I can remember, it has always kept me sane.

My little sister was also a dancer. I taught her everything I know. My sister is a sophomore in high school, she just turned 16 in June. She had many friends and is well known at her school. She is always at the top of her classes and was made captain of the dance team after I left.

Before our mother passed away, she would always say that her kids would be star athletes. She was a professional soccer player all throughout her life. So, we made it one of our goals to put our time into our sports and make our mother proud of us.

I look up at the building in front of me. "Are you ready Yesi?" my brother said almost squealing my nickname.

The nickname he gave me when I was born. "I guess so." I frown at him, shrugging. He gives me a look that says he knows I am lying. It was very sympathetic, and I rolled my eyes.

We both walk inside the building as I glance around seeing everyone trying to find their classes. It was bigger than I imagined, it was a very old building. It looks stressful to me which made me nervous. But I took a deep breath and walked into the chaos.

"Yesenia, I want you to meet my friends. They are so cool." Alejandro looks at me grinning.

I grin slightly at him still annoyed that we are here and follow him.

We were walking which felt like forever because this university is humongous, and it is like a maze. We finally came to a stop in front of 3 boys.

They were all looking down at me which made me shift uncomfortably. "Yesenia this is Jacob, Vinnie, and Alex. Guys this is my little sister Yesenia, it's her first year." he wraps his arm around my shoulder and continues, "Also if any of you do anything to her it will not be good."

He is still smiling widely, and I watch all of them nod at him. I look at him and roll my eyes while raising an eyebrow and slap his shoulder.

Jacob had brown curly hair with blue eyes and was looking around like he was trying to find something. Vinnie had a slight smile on his face, and he waved at me. He was good looking, had light brown eyes, and dirty brown hair that covered his ears. He had tattoos on his arms that did not make any sense. I raise an eyebrow at them but look away quickly. Alex was looking at me like he was trying to figure out what I was thinking.

I lose my thoughts when I hear a voice. "Hey, Yesenia, I'm Vinnie." he said offering his hand I reach for it and shake it. His hands were warm, and he maintained eye contact. He kept his hand in mine for a few seconds before I let go and looked at my brother grinning.

"Nice to meet you all. I should go find my classes" I say looking at all of them, then looking at my brother. "Are you going to be okay? Do you need any help?" He looks at me sincerely with furrowed eyebrows. "No, I will be okay" I say nodding. He looks at me with a concerned and suspicious look. He then grins. "Alright, if you say so. See you later Yesi." my brother says as he nods, hugs me and turns around. I wave at his friends and walk away from them.

As I started walking away, I immediately feel stares on me, and I knew it was because I was Alejandro's sister. I was already used to it from high school, so I wasn't worried about it. I look around me and see a few females give me a nasty face, so I just smile at them and continue walking. Ugh this is gonna be a long and chaotic college experience.
