The door to the mansion swung shut behind us with a definitive thud, mirroring the resolve hardening in my chest. Without pausing, I stormed through the living room, driven by a mix of anger and urgency, and headed straight for the piano room. My steps were quick and purposeful, each one echoing off the ornate walls. Reaching the small antique drawer by the entrance, I snatched the key, my movements sharp and agitated.
As I gripped the key tightly in my fist, a flood of emotions surged through me—anger, betrayal, and an overwhelming sense of urgency. It was troubling to think about how much had been kept from me, how many secrets had been buried within these walls. My sister had been clever, far more so than anyone had given her credit for, but the silence from Seonghwa was what gnawed at me the most. His loyalty, once unassailable, now seemed perforated with too many secrets.
I barged into the piano room, my eyes immediately darting towards the shelves that lined the far wall. Without hesitation, I began pulling books from the shelves, my movements frantic and fueled by a desperate need for answers. Books hit the floor with loud thuds, the noise a chaotic soundtrack to my frenzied search. Then, as folders began to tumble out amidst the cascade of literature, I gasped. There were ten of them, each one thick with documents, their very heft speaking to the gravity of the secrets they held.
"Baby, what are you... holy shit," Wooyoung exclaimed from the doorway. He had followed me in, his voice trailing off in astonishment as he took in the sight of the hidden trove our little sister had concealed.
I knelt among the scattered books and folders, my heart pounding as I opened the first folder. The contents were a jumble of legal documents, transaction records, and incriminating correspondence. Each page was a revelation, outlining a network of deceit and corruption that extended far beyond what I had imagined.
"We need to go through these, all of them," I said, my voice steady despite the storm of emotions inside me. "There's enough here to bring them down—all of them."
Wooyoung knelt beside me, his presence a comforting constant in the tumultuous moment. Together, we began to sift through the documents, each folder unveiling more of the hidden truths that had shaped our lives more than we knew.
As Wooyoung hurriedly gathered the documents, I scooped up the remaining folders, my hands trembling with the weight of what they might contain. Together, we exited the piano room, the key turning sharply in the lock behind us, securing the secrets we had just unearthed.
We made our way to the meeting room, a sense of urgency propelling us forward. There, we spread the folders out across the large table, the papers fanning out like a grim mosaic of deceit and betrayal. Wooyoung opened the first folder and pulled out several photographs, his brow furrowing as he studied them closely.
"Are these your parents?" he asked, holding up the photos for me to see. I glanced at them and felt a wave of disgust wash over me. Nodding, I couldn't muster words, the images confirming their involvement in the shadowy dealings I had only begun to comprehend.
