Sydney didn't love the fact that she was now in a group chat with a bunch of strangers.
People who didn't know a thing about her.
More than likely, the only thing they knew is that she had a brother who committed. Is that something to be known for? Yes. Did she want to be? Are you kidding me?! No!
What was worse is that her teacher assigned a semester long project. A group project.
She walked past the teacher's desk, ignoring the bubblegum pink permission slips. "Are you not going, Syd?" An orotund voice came from behind her.
When she turned around she hoped to whoever created her would help her remember the person's name. She was never good with names. More with faces.
She craned her neck to see the blond boy from her group. He had crimson eyes, probably contacts. Wearing an orange shirt with a yellow smiley face that matched the one on his own.
'Braden? Cameron? For all I know is name is Kermit.' She mentally freaked out. "Sorry to say this but...what's your name?"
An audible gasp came from his lungs, his hand over his chest "clutching his pearls". A few passers by gave them strange looks at the both of them. She did not like this interaction at all. He acting like she just murdered his goldfish and people were looking at them.
After a moment of the blonde wanting to crawl into a hole and die, the blond waved it off. "It's all good, Syd. It's Aiden." He laughed, her chuckling nervously in response. "You should go to Savannah. It sounds like lots of fun."
"Yeah... definitely." She backed up, wanting to leave. "I'll think on it." She gave a thin smile before pacing out of the room, her lumpy bag thrown over her shoulders.
'I don't like it here." Sydney was currently squished between her classmates as they all piled onto the bus. Finding a seat, she curled up next to the window, her bag resting next to her.Once everyone found a seat, the bus started to move. Luckily for the blonde, she got to sit by herself. The boy from yesterday peeked over from his seat, in front of Sydney, a rubik's cube in hand.
"Want one? You look bored." He giggled, holding his bag over the seats. The red bag was filled with fidget toys and mind games.
A small stick shift caught her eye. "Uh- actually, I would. Thank you." They both smiled at this. Neither of them knew anything about each other, which Sydney started to enjoy.
A notification flashed on the girl's phone, that sat in the seat next to her, the screen lighting up. "Who's the guy?" Aiden tilted his head, getting a better look at her lock screen photo.
The picture was of her and her brother from two years ago. "No one." She whispered, indicating that she didn't want to speak about it, he nodded in understanding.
"Mr. Clark, please sit back down. Bottom in seat. Don't make me tell you again." Mr. Thomas spoke up from the front of the bus.
"Sorry!" He shouted back. Students around the bus found this humorous.
