Amanda fell out of the car, laughing. Oliver rushed to her aid, also laughing uproariously.
"You're a walking disaster."
"It's not my fault, this stupid, too tight dress is to blame. I can't take a normal step."
"But it looks great on you."
"I know, what do you think? Why am I struggling in it all night?"
"I'll never understand women," he commented with a smile.
"Neither will I," Amanda laughed.
"How long do you plan to stay in Wolf Valley?" Amanda asked him. "I wouldn't want to lose my best friend."
"I don't know, I haven't thought much about it. I like it here. The atmosphere is laid-back, and there seems to be no racism. I'd like to stay longer, but I need to find a job."
"Listen," Amanda started seriously. "I'm starting a company for event organization and clothing rental. I could really use an assistant."
"I don't know anything about event organization."
"What have you been doing so far?"
"I've been a bodyguard. Mostly security."
"Great, that's exactly what I need. Are you in?"
Oliver laughed. "Do I have a choice?"
"Kneel."
"Excuse me?"
"You heard me, kneel." Oliver knelt down.
Amanda plucked a twig from a nearby bush and aimed it at Oliver's head.
"Wingardium Leviosa," she shouted.
"You are crazy!" Oliver commented with a smile.
„Shhhhh," Amanda hushed him, placing a finger on her lips. "This is serious."
"I can see that," he continued laughing.
"Wingardium Leviosa," she waved the wand. First, she lowered it to his temple, then to his left shoulder, and then to his right.
"Repeat after me!"
"If I must."
"You must," Amanda said with a smile.
"I swear to be gentle to the weak, brave to the strong, relentless to the evil and wicked. I swear to defend the helpless and to respect the sanctity of all women, especially Amanda."
"I have a question."
"Go ahead."
"Confused, are you holding a magic wand or Excalibur in your hand?"
"You're a warlock, you should know."
"Wizard."
"Same thing."
"Do you swear?"
"I swear," Oliver laughed.
"I hereby declare you Amanda Sasso's personal assistant!" she said theatrically.
"May I stand up?"
"You may," she laughed.
"Will we talk tomorrow?" he asked.
"We will. You have my mobile number," she said. "I'll call you after I get some rest, and then we'll embark on new work victories. The new year is around the corner. We need to score some gigs. Hopefully, someone will organize something in this town?"
"I heard the New Year's Eve party is at the Green Garden."
"Ah, the Green Garden," Amanda sighed.
"Maybe Luka would let you organize it if you ask him nicely," Oliver winked at her.
"No way. I don't want anything from him," Amanda replied annoyed.
"Then why did you make me give that woman bunny ears?"
"Firstly, I didn't make you do anything. You volunteered. Secondly, I told you we're best friends from today onwards, and that's what friends do, they look out for each other."
"Payback?"
"Not payback. We help each other. Let's say it was a small revenge."
"Because he kissed another woman?"
"Correction, she kissed him. That's why she got the ears. If it were Luka, I would have come up with something much worse."
"As I said before, I'll never understand women. You don't want him, but you don't want any other woman to have him either."
"That's right!" Amanda said excitedly, then stopped, realizing she had revealed too much.
"Oh... well then, see you tomorrow," Oliver said.
"Until tomorrow. Good night. And thank you for a wonderful evening." Amanda kissed him on the cheek. Oliver smiled and left.
For a moment, she thought she heard a growl, but she ignored it.
Entering the house, she kicked off her shoes.
"Ah..." she sighed. Midnight had long passed.
"I should shower, but I don't feel like it," she thought to herself. She took off her dress. The bite on her butt began to sting.
"What a lunatic," she thought. "He didn't have to bite me so hard."
In just her panties and bra, she lazily walked to her room. As soon as she entered, she threw herself on the bed. She immediately felt the warmth of a body next to her and the familiar scent that lingered in the air. It was a warm aroma, something akin to the scent of pine. However, instead of joy, the sudden scent of pine startled her. She jumped out of bed, her heart racing. Luka turned on the bedside lamp.
"What are you doing here?" she asked, hands on her hips, while Luka watched her with a predatory smile. His gaze traveled from her breasts to her hips, returning to her eyes.
„I came to return something you forgot at my place," he sensually replied. Lazily, he stood up, taking a step towards her. She didn't move, deciding to hold her ground. He approached her so closely that her breasts almost touched his chest. He was so tall that she had to lift her head. He lowered his head gently, bringing his lips close to her ear.
"Your thong," he said almost in a whisper. Her skin tingled. He straightened up, but didn't move away. He was still very close. Almost touching her. The tension sent shivers down her spine.
He approached again, his lips so close to hers. She felt his hot breath. The warmth of his body enveloped her. She closed her eyes. Unconsciously, she took a deep breath. His scent was a blend of warmth and masculinity, notes of pine and citrus playing in perfect harmony. A scent that was like a mysterious invitation.
But instead of a touch, Luka withdrew, leaving her in her own excitement.
"You might find them in the drawer," he added with a smile, emphasizing his enigmatic tone. He looked at her for a moment longer, then headed towards the door.
Amanda was paralyzed for a moment, her heart beating faster than expected. When the door closed behind him, she felt a mix of relief and confusion. She looked towards the drawer and noticed her thong.
She sat on the bed, thinking about him. It was a moment of mixed emotions. She had to gather herself and sort out the feelings his visit had brought. Her heart still echoed, but now in the silence that replaced the excitement.
"Why didn't he kiss me?"
