The rest of the holiday was pretty peaceful. Which was good considering what was coming. On the last day, it was still hard to say goodbye to Erik. "You will see me soon, I promise. I have to come pick up Klaus on the fifth. I will make sure that I come to see you." I shook my head.
"No, it's okay. It would break my heart to only see you for minutes. But have you figured out Tampa yet?"
"Luke decided he wanted all of us in a pack house together. He rented a place. I can't say no." I nodded. The fucking alpha. "And it will be good for Klaus."
"I agree. I understand." I told him as he finished packing his truck. We kissed once more then he moved to get in.
"One more thing. Stay away from Marcel," he said and I was shocked by the statement. Also because there was not a drop of jealous coming from him.
"What brought that on? We haven't seen each other since the breakup."
"Nudge from the goddess. I don't want to come off jealous. It's not about that."
"You're just passing on the message. Loud and clear. I got it. I will run the other way. I still think I should get a short term place in Tampa."
"What about the girls? It's their last semester in school before college. You should be with them." He wasn't wrong. And I was excited about Monique and Davina graduating.
"I just really hate being separated."
"Three months. Just three more months. I'm going to start training. I'll be helping the pack and maybe training with Klaus will get me to beat Luke easily."
"You could beat him with one hand tied."
"The faith you have in me." he said before climbing into his truck. I stepped up and gave him one more kiss through the window.
"Stay safe."
"Always."
He drove out of the drive and I watched him the whole time, very awake of the bodies behind me. Bonnie watching less discretely than Klaus who was doing it from the upstairs window. "You okay?" she called out to me. I turned around and nodded. But the sky was gray so I supposed we all knew the answer.
"It's only temporary. Now let's figure out a way to beat these assholes." I said with severe determination.
"So what are the goals of the Strix?" Freya asked when the war council met on New Years day. Madame Josephine was even here along with Jackson and Hayley, interestingly enough. They wanted to protect the wolves.
"They want to keep the world the same. They want vampires on top then their select witches." I explained.
"I don't see why this is such a problem. Surely they are nothing for you,"Klaus said from his seat at the middle of the table.
"I'm powerful but I'm not a god." I told him. "And we all know I have my weak points."
"Hey!" Bonnie scolded me.
"Not just you, Bonnie. There are people in this world that I care about. The Strix will know that because Marcel knows that."
"And are you so sure that Marcellus is working against you?" Rebekah asked.
"Against us," I said, looking Rebekah in the eyes.
"I'm still not convinced this fight has anything to do with us."
"Yes it's not like it's a society your brother created. And it's also not like it's being led by your first progeny. You're lucky I believe in the balance because white oak and three stakes would fix all of my problems right now." I threatened. No Elijah, Klaus, or Rebekah, no Strix.
