Beeping, that's what Kate heard as she came to. Her nose scrunched up as the overly clean smell of the hospital filled her nose. She lifted her hand to rub her eyes before opening them with a groan.
"Hey sleeping beauty." Lucy's soft voice instantly filled Kate's ears.
Turning her head, Kate couldn't help but smile tiredly. "Did we get them?" She asked softly.
"We are working on getting the three who ran." Lucy said softly. "But you don't have to worry about that."
Clearing her throat, Kate looked up at Lucy. "Is Willow okay?"
"They hit her over the head really hard. She hasn't woken up yet. The doctors are taking her for a brain scan." Lucy said softly.
Kate swallowed thickly, blaming herself for not getting there sooner.
"This isn't your fault." Lucy said, almost reading Kate's thoughts. "You did everything you could."
"But if I had gone in even earlier, I could've prevented this." Kate said softly, shaking her head.
Lucy shook her head and lifted her hand to brush Kate's hair from her face. "No, don't do that to yourself. This isn't your fault."
Swallowing thickly, Kate leaned into Lucy's touch. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you I was going undercover."
Lucy shook her head. "Forget about that. I'm just glad you're safe and out of that situation." She said softly, leaning down to kiss Kate's forehead.
Kate's eyes fluttered closed and she reached up to pull Lucy closer.
At that moment, Jane and the doctor came in.
Kate instantly forced her eyes open, looking towards Jane and then the doctor.
"Hey. How are you feeling?" Jane asked softly.
"Like I lost a fight with a bear." Kate mumbled softly, reaching up to rub her eyes again.
"You kinda did, that guy was huge." Jane said, shrugging.
"Did I imagine things or did I actually get shot?" Kate mumbled softly, rubbing her eyes again.
"You got shot." Lucy said softly.
Groaning, Kate looked up at Lucy with a soft pout. "That means I can't surf." She whined softly.
"Not for a while." Lucy said calmly.
Kate's pout instantly deepened and she tried to shift on the bed only to wince in pain.
"Are you okay?" Lucy asked softly, a worried look crossing her face.
"I'm okay, my stomach just really really hurts." Kate admitted softly, looking up at Lucy with sad eyes.
"Mind if I take a look?" The doctor asked softly, stepping forward.
Leaning back against the pillows, Kate sighed softly and nodded her head.
The doctor moved Kate's gown up and began to examine Kate's wound.
The blonde reached for Lucy's hand, trying not to flinch away from the doctor.
The doctor cleaned the wound and put a new bandage on.
"How bad are my injuries?" Kate asked after a couple minutes, the pain meds were wearing off and she was starting to feel everything.
"The bullet wound, a concussion, bruised ribs, a busted lip, and two cuts one on your right cheek and the other on your right eyebrow." The doctor said, listing Kate's injuries. "The bullet wound is the worst of it."
