LEIA HAD BARELY EVEN SEEN FINNICK BECAUSE EVERYONE WAS ALL OVER HIM. They had started with the initial clean

-up and shave, but then, all of the other designers had to go meet with Opal to discuss what they were thinking for the Tribute parade. They told Leia to stay in the room with Finnick because he should never not be monitored.

She was sitting on the ground and playing with the eyeshadows and thinking about possible designs. She felt a stare on her, and she looked up to see Finnick watching her. Noticing that he had been caught, he coughed awkwardly before asking, "Shouldn't you go with them?"

"No, I'm just an apprentice," she responded, and she realized that he might be asking if she could go with them so that he could have a minute to himself. She knew that she would if she were in his position. To gestured to the door and began climbing to her feet. "But I can go if you want some alone time."

He shook his head and gestured for her to sit back down. He told her, "No, stay, please." He smiled gently at her as she sat back down on the ground facing him in his high chair in front of the mirror. "You're the first person I've seen here that looks my age."

"I'm fourteen," she informed him. She was trying to make him feel as comfortable as he could around her because she knew that someone her age needed to feel safe or at least have a friend through it all. She wanted to let him know that she could be one of those friends.

"Me too," he responded, and a grin spread across both of their faces. He stood up and headed over to the window that was overlooking the city. He seemed so amazed, and she slowly climbed to her feet and joined him at the glass. He questioned, "Do you live here, in the Capitol?"

She nodded, "Yes."

"It must be pretty cool, huh?" he asked, and as she looked out the window, it did seem like the perfect place to live. It was bright and colorful and filled with towering buildings. It looked exciting and perfect. The truth was that it wasn't.

She did not say that though because she would then be the stuck-up little girl that does not like her perfect city full of rich people. So, she just shrugged and answered, "Yeah, it's all right."
