(I'm probably going to rewrite this chapter once I get better at writing)
Update 1: changed some extremely obvious typos and errors
Y/N stood at the small podium in the middle of the courtroom.
The judge, wearing black robes, banged his gavel against the block and yelled for everyone to quiet down.
"Y/N, you have been charged with first degree murder, armed robbery, resisting arrest, assault on a peace officer and unlawful possession of a firearm," the judge spoke as he read the papers on his table. "Do you plead guilty?"
"No," they replied.
Y/N's lawyer, who in her heart knew they were guilty already, spoke up to reinforce their answer.
"Your honor, my client has done none of that. In fact, I don't think you even have the evidence to prove against my claim," Y/N's lawyer responded.
The judge, with a bored look on his face, began playing recordings of security cameras and body cams of officers on a large screen to the left.
While everyone watched the scene unfold in the recording, the judge had picked up a call and was talking.
After the video ended, the judge turned off the screen and cleared his throat, redirecting attention towards him.
"Ahem... It has come to my knowledge," the judge stopped speaking and looked back down to their papers, before looking back up again. "That JcJenson bought your physical bodies and consciousness approximately three minutes ago. You did steal from JcJenson, so consider it your punishment."
"WHAT?!" Y/N shouted, an outburst of anger sweeping over their body. "NO! I REFUSE TO BELIEVE THAT A CORPORATION JUST BOUGHT ME!"
The judge banged the gavel against the block and announced, "Case dismissed, WITH prejudice."
"HOW IS THAT EVEN LEGAL?!" Y/N shouted as the judge packed his things and prepared to leave.
They turn their head in panic. Nonononono this can't be happening!, they thought. But they couldn't run. They were chained to the podium, to prevent them from running and potentially escaping.
And they seemed to work as intended, which was a bummer. The court had finally stepped up their game, and they couldn't escape this time.
Several large guards advanced towards the podium menacingly, weapons drawn.
Y/N flashes a smile at them, in hopes of changing their fate. But they know it won't work. Two guards grab both of their arms while the third uses a pistol to break the chain.
The guards drag them out of the courtroom, down the stairs, and chuck them into the inside of an unmarked van.
=-=Y/N's POV=-=
I woke up and found myself sitting down on a flimsy dollar tree plastic chair in front of another flimsy plastic table. I- I mean WE, since there was someone else next to me, still asleep, was in a small rectangular room with white walls, that reeked of rotting oatmeal and mice. There were two lights in the room, and another smaller table in front of us.
Granted, it was much better in both the looks, the durability and as well as the material department than our chair and table.
Nothing interesting was happening, so I decided to fall back asleep. But as soon as I started drifting off, three more men came into the room.
One was in a formal suit, the other two were in security uniforms. The man in the formal suit sat down on a fancy lavish wooden chair. Oh, how happy I would be to wipe the smug smile off of this man's face.
