SOPHIE.
The bell was rang and everybody rushed into their various classes. I'm usually one of the people who goes to class early and sit at the back, just for the sake of avoiding attention. I let Autumn decide where she wants to sit at and surprisingly she chose my front.
Only Daniel and a few of my friends whose timetable is the same as mine usually sits at the back and the row at my front with me but not beside me,I told them they distract me.
"Autumn, why don't you pick wherever you want to sit" I told her freely going to my seat. The seat's technically mine since no one likes to sit at the back and a corner at that.
"I'll sit over here, you said we should stick together and I kinda like your friends and you too"she said and looked at the floor which was offering her some weird comfort that my pretty face couldn't provide to her.
"Are you sure,I really don't want some dumb cheer girls saying I influenced you,I already have enough attention already but everyone seems to know me" I asked her sincerely.
"I'm sure but I don't want you gaining bad attention" she said sadly as she went to sit in the front row.
I should call her back I want to be different this year. I want different. Last 5 years has been me just ignoring most things, letting Avery continue her petty tricks,I was becoming another person, locked up in my room from morning to night, being Daniel's bestie and rumors of us dating going around for years but I couldn't choose the fact that his fame was earning me unwanted popularity but I'm pretty sure his not the cause of it maybe my irresistible charm, over our priceless friendship. I did what I thought I was incapable of doing since I loved being alone.
"Autumn...the attention isn't bad,I just hate being noticed, but fate has another plan for me. I walk with the most popular boy in school and I'm the number one enemy of Avery, the captain of cheerleading and have this weird gift of attracting attention wherever I am,but...I wish you'd stay,I'm seeking change from my deliberate ignorance. I'm sorry for my attitude, not exactly getting the change thing"I said.
" It's okay and thanks for explaining"she said with a sweet smile. I heard a familiar voice interrupting us. " I'm proud of you,I know you'll get the change thing" he said with a smile while tickling me to lighten the mood. " Please stop, please, please, please"I begged until he finally listened to me. "Umm,how much of that did you hear"I asked him as I gulped nervously and played with my fingers. " Only the part about how you're sorry"he replied honestly. Only I know how happy I am he didn't hear that part of walking with him,I know Daniel and he'd be so hurt.
" Do any of us realize that Ms. Norman is there, listening to us" I asked them. "What the hell is she doing here, she comes to class late"said Daniel. "Have as much talk as you want there, cos I'm waiting for the new students the principal informed me about,but... you might want to sit"she told us while going back to her phone.
People entered the class and soon the class was full, a really really cute boy sat beside me and I didn't object, I'm willing to change. I looked around, only two new faces, well one since Autumn is already my friend.
I felt a gaze on me, actually multiple gazes on me, one of which was Avery, probably because someone is sitting beside me today.
"This is gonna be a long year"I muttered under my breath for the second time in a day."You really do not like attention,do you?"he said as I heard him talk to me.
I look up and I saw a pair of really gray eyes looking at me with such breathtaking voice. I look at his features clearly and I saw a very sharp jawline and the pinkest lips I've ever seen my entire life. I allowed my eyes to roam about a bit on his body,he seems athletic. This is ridiculous how can I be checking him out right now in the middle of the class,I looked up at him only to find him checking me out, looks like I'm not the only one guilty.
"Umm,I'm sorry I didn't mean to stare at you, just it's not everyday I see a pretty girl" he said as I blushed before hiding my face in my palm. Oh my God, this change thing is really doing me somehow. I mean how can I blush I am Sophie. I looked up at him to see him smiling. I did what I never thought I will do, I complimented him, me Sophie Adeyemi complimented somebody.
"You look cute too" I told him with a smile when I noticed something. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, did I just see his face turn a slight shade of crimson red.
"... and it's not everyday we see a pretty girl complimenting a new kid."he said while smirking. "...and it's definitely not everyday we see a boy blushing at a compliment"I said while smirking back at him."Well, do you blame me princess"he said while smirking.
"Guys can you like tone down the PDA,a little bit, please"said Autumn with a mischievous smile as I buried my face into my table before lifting back up.
"We're not displaying anything" I told her while glaring at her. "... yet"he said as he looked straight into my eyes with a smirk. "Yet??!! What the fuck do you mean,we are not displaying any affec-"I said as I was cut off because he was leaning closer to me. His breath fell on my bare skin and he put his arm around my neck moving me closer to him,his lips moved closer and I couldn't push him. Did he just-I hope you enjoyed this chapter.
