"June 25, 1953. I'm finally 18 now and me and my friends are going to the bar to celebrate my milestone. I was casually drinking when a man sat next to me and started a conversation with me. He introduced himself as John Anderson. He looked kinda handsome. I could hear my friends planning our wedding from across the table.
I got the courage and "Is it just me, or does this dance floor seem a little brighter since you walked in" I genuinely thought it would make him blush but got blown away by his response. 'Well, I thought it was the stars coming out, but now I see it's just your smile lighting up the room.' I think now it's my turn to blush. I blushed hard at his words while my friends were giggling at my reaction. I secretly glared at them.
'Eliz, I must say, this evening has been a delight. I'd be remiss if I didn't ask to see you again. May I have your phone number? It would be a pleasure to call you for another night out like this.' I was feeling the spark of a budding connection and appreciating his respectful approach, respond with a playful yet considerate tone.
'Well, John, I think this evening has been quite wonderful too. Here, let me give you my number. And how about you give me yours as well? Just in case I get the urge to hear some more of your fascinating stories before you call.' I replied and gave him my home phone number. I could sense my friends already planning a name for our baby by now.
One of her friends, Hannah said 'Well, well, Eliz, I see you've been captivating Mr. Handsome over there with your charm. Did you two set a date for the wedding yet, or are you saving that for the second phone call?'
The group erupts into laughter, teasing Eliz with a playful nudge and knowing glances.
Eliz replied blushing slightly, but with a good-natured smile 'Oh, please! We've only just exchanged numbers. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. But who knows? Maybe he'll surprise us all with a bouquet of roses tomorrow!'
The friends continue to chuckle and exchange playful remarks, celebrating Eliz's potential new romantic interest with warmth and affection."
As he finished reading, Alex looked up at his friends, their faces illuminated by the warm glow of the room. He couldn't help but smile, knowing that Eliz's story had brought them all a little closer together.
