Juniper
"We need to know who and I suppose what you are. We need to have the details in order to tell how big of a threat you may be. Not that I think you will be, but we must take all precautions necessary in order to protect our pack, our family."
I stare at them like a deer in headlights. I understand why they need to know. I get it, I would to in their place. But that doesn't change the fact that I don't know if I can. People treat you differently knowing the real you, and most times it's not pretty. Well at least in my experience.
I take a breath trying to ground myself before saying anything. This will not be easy and I need to be prepared for the worst. "Where would you like me to start?" I question almost too quite, but I know that they heard me, they are shifters after all.
"Honey, you can start wherever you feel comfortable, you don't have to tell us everything, we understand that it will take time for you to trust us. But if you need help picking a starting place, why not with your markings? They seem to be important." Ash quietly states, as if trying to comfort me knowing that this is complicated.
My face comes to sudden realization. The markings, I had forgotten his earlier comment about his seeing them when he was healing me. "My marking, the symbols sketched upon my skin are as you guessed important into understanding who I am. I was born with most, but others just started appearing as I grew older and changed." I start with. While I talk I take off my shirt leaving me in a bra, allowing the Colton to take a look seeing as Ash has already seen them.
"That one is new, It wasn't there the last time I was checking on you." Ash speaks up suddenly. "Here let me get a mirror so you can see." He quickly gets up and returns with a mirror. Positioning is where i was able to see what he was talking about.
A phoenix shines bright on the back of my left shoulder. I know exactly what that mean, I deflate slightly in my posture. "A phoenix. A representation of defying death, dying and being born again." I muttered to the men across from me.
"When Jessica shot me, in the simplest terms, I met death. I should have died, well I did, I just didn't stay dead. Which would be why I got the phoenix symbol. My story is not pretty, as you both have probably already guessed just at looking at me. These marking tell a story, they show you who I am and what I have gone through. Not only that, but they can tell you what I will be, They show what I will become." I look at them in the eyes, I am not ashamed of my story, I am proud of who I am and the fact that I am stilling standing, defying all odds against me.
The men stay quite edging me to continue. "I was born into a human house hold, my so called parents were both human but have magical properties in their blood. My mother, Astrid, is part shifter but was never granted a companion, leaving her bitter and angry. My father, Anthony, has elemental power components in his blood, but has never been able to access it unlike his brothers. My older sister, Clover, followed on my dads side, she can access some of it, small parts of the water element but nothing besides that. And trust me she has tried." I pause for a moment, steading myself before continuing.
"I on the other hand, was always quote different. Reining in the shifter part of my blood, granting me a wonderful companion named Scarlet. But I also got my dads elemental power, allowing me control not just one element which is most common, But all four, which has only been found in..." I get cut of by Colton before I could continue.
Ash and Colton looks at me with wide eyes. "Which has only been found in Mythicas." He whispers with wide eyes. Shocked beyond belief about the first of many shocking facts he is about to learn. I shake my head yes, in conformation to this news.
"Are you serious, how are you so sure? Not much is known about Mythicas in the first place, seeing as they are very rare." Ash questions. I know he doesn't mean any harm, but his type of question makes me a little upset. I know that Mythicas are rare. But that doesn't change the facts that I have already been faced with.
I stare at Ash as hurt flashes suddenly across my face, fast enough I don't think he fully understood what I was feeling. "Yes, I am sure. I don't know how much you two actually know about Mythicas or their history. But I have been researching it for years. Given the markings that I have, it has only lead me into this direction. That and they powers I have grown to yield proves this point as well." I start before getting stopped once again.
"We don't know much about Mythicas because they are so rare, they have fallen out of our local teaching curriculum. So anything you can share would be helpful." Ash say answering my underlining question on what they actually know.
Knowing that they are not educated basically at all in this subject, I will start at the beginning. "The first Mythica dated was thousand upon thousand years ago. And every five hundred to a thousand years, another would pop up around the globe. It has been a recognized pattern that a Mythica will be born anywhere from twenty to fifty years before a large event, most of the time being a war." I check to make sure the men were following along in my explanation before continuing.
"As you are aware, there are three main magical yielders of magic in our world. Shifters, Witches, and Vampires. In each species origin, there are many subspecies that fit into it. For example, Shifters have werewolf, bears, different size cat descendants, foxes and many more. Basically one for every animal, although some are mostly extinct. Witches have the elementals, the healers, the necromancers, the fey's, and so on and so forth. Then we have the Vampires, who have ties to the demons, imps, and even the angels." The men before me nod their heads in understanding, I know that they have heard about most of this before. But I need to cover all of my bases.
I continue on with the nods of encouragement. " Once you know the basics of subspecies, it is easier to understand what a Mythica is and how they work. In basic terms, Mythicas are a combination of the three main origins. Each Mythica will have different abilities, some will be a werewolf but others might be a bear shifter. No two Mythica is the same. Our powers and what elements we gain from each original origin depends on the reason we were born. If you are born to stop a war, you have different needs then someone who is born to help solve a plague." I try to explain. Its complicated to explain but I think they are getting it.
I look at them waiting for any questions or comments they may have to far. "If each Mythica is different, and you are a Mythica. What elements do you possess?" Colton looks at me in such determination and confusion.
"I knew you were going to ask that." I state, as much as I didn't want to answer him. I knew if was only fair. They deserve to know what they are getting into. If they were going to help me, if I was going to be strong enough to figure out my purpose of being born. These were the people who I needed to help me.
"My companion I had mentioned earlier, Scarlet is a white and red snow fox" Scarlet puffed out her chest in my mind at the mention of what she was. "I can control all elements to the highest control." I show this by creating fire within the palm of my hand. "I also have healing powers." I say quietly. "And finally, I have the speed and hearing of the vampire, but I also have wings." I don't think they will believe that last part.
"Wings?" Ash questions.
"Yes, One is black as is most demon wings, and the other is white, as most angel wings are." I answer is question. I know this is not what they expected.
"That is not all. Mythicas all receive additional powers, along with those who become a protector or as some call them guardians." I say suddenly, catching them both off guard.
