ERIN was on her second slice of pizza when her phone started to ring. she had been sitting on the far end of the couch with schlatt and tanner, a few feet from her phone which had been left on the kitchen counter.

"hey erin i think you're phone is ringing." nick says as he glances down to read the caller id. "it's eden."

erin stops mid conversation, confused as to why her sister was calling her so late on a weekday. she wipes her hands on her jeans as she leaps off the couch to answer the call.

nick met her halfway and handed over the phone but she was a second too late, sending her sister straight to voicemail. she immediately returns the call and makes her way to the back door, unsure if she needed privacy or not.

eden answered after two rings, and her calm tone instantly soothed the panic that had built up in erin's gut. "oh hey, sorry if i bothered you." her sister apologizes into the phone.

"no you're fine, i was just eating. is everything okay?" erin asks as she sits down on the last step of the deck.

"can i wear your i heart taylor swift shirt?" eden asks sheepishly.

"that's why you're calling me? eden, it's 11:47 on a tuesday." erin says as she rolls her eyes. "if you wear it tomorrow just remember to throw it in the dirty clothes before you leave on thursday."

"well no, i was wanting to wear it tonight.."

"for what, bed? why do you need it tonight?"

"well," eden pauses again. "theres a little get together for the junior class and it started like an hour ago but i didn't want to go without asking and obviously mom won't say yes, so i'm asking you."

"what kind of meet? don't you have school tomorrow?" erin asks, clearly puzzled.

"no it's school improvement day so we're off, and it's like a bonfire for homecoming week next week but since it's supposed to rain they're gonna do it early..."

"where is it at? are there gonna be any adults to watch or host it?"

"it's at sarah prescott's house, so literally just down the street from your apartment. and yeah her mom is helping put it on." eden explains. "what if i just go for an hour? i'll be with friends for a little bit and then i'll come straight back!"

erin sighs and fiddles with the ring on her middle finger. she loved how her sister saw her as a best friend versus an older sibling, but it definitely put her in some tough situations.

erin didn't have the best relationship with their mother. she had always been closer to their father, but he lived on the east cost. in between calls and texts, she would typically only see him during the holidays.

when erin was in highschool, the divorced
co parenting had lead to some very strict rules which caused to her miss out on many different highschool experiences. she had always been a social butterfly, but only when she wanted to.

it's not that she necessarily needed to branch out in school, but part of her wished she would have been apart of more than just someone to graduate with an impressive gpa. because now with a following, she only had luck creating friendships within the content community.

"well you seem to have it all planned out, so if you go," erin lectures. "make sure you share your location with me. stay by your friends, and even though you don't have school tomorrow i want you back with the pets no later than one in the morning."
