ERIN woke up the next morning very annoyed.

annoyed that she let her emotions get the best of her. annoyed that she misread their connection and annoyed that the bed in his spare bedroom was nicer than her own.

schlatt had already been awake for an hour or so. he paced the hallway a few times, unsure if he should knock on her door, send her a text, or just leave her alone.

erin on the other hand was trying to sink further into the mattress. she powered on her phone seeing a couple miscellaneous notifications from either snapchat or messages. seeing one for fallout shelter, she clicks onto the mobile game forgetting that the sound of the game starting up was the loudest thing ever.

schlatt heard from the next room over and took this as his cue to knock lightly on the guest room door. erin hums in response, inviting him in.

she slept in the bits of makeup that she had on the previous day, and rubbing her eyes when she woke up definitely didn't help her case. her hair was messily zigzagged down the middle, natural curls hidden beneath the frizz. not to mention her bangs that were sticking up in every direction.

"are you playing fallout shelter?" jay asks as he approaches the mound of blankets that erin was resting underneath.

erin lets out a breath she didn't know she was holding and emerges from under the covers, turning her phone screen around to show the state of her vault. "i think i'm gonna build further down but i don't know if i wanna have the elevator in the middle or one on each side.."

schlatt takes another step closer and gestures to the bed, asking for permission before sitting down. erin accepts and scoots over to the right side of the bed, attempting to take the covers with her to give him more room to sit. the mattress dips as he lowers his weight, shifting slightly so he could get a better look at erin's phone. he lends his hand out, asking for her phone to which she hands it forward without a second thought.

he takes the phone in his hands, and swipes through the quests to see which would give the best rewards. erin's vault was lacking power, but she only had two electrical rooms built and neither were fully upgraded so the rest of her workshops were barely hanging on.

"this quest gives you two thousand bottle caps which would fully upgrade one room to a three tier power source, and then the next set of caps you get you could probably do the same with the other room."

the tension from the night before was still present, but dissolved the more that they talked. it was still early, but erin could feel her head spinning with every glance that he would take in her direction.

schlatt makes the first bold gesture of the day by leaning back onto the pillows stacked behind him, now in parallel with erin.

she was calm at first, reminding herself that this could be seen as a very common act between friends. she readjusts the comforter, now feeling a little too warm for her comfort. she slept in the hoodie he had leant her, and as her eyes scan the rest of the bedroom she notices the pair of jeans misplaced by the window.

she wasn't wearing pants.

schlatt, completely oblivious to erin's predicament, finally looked up from the phone. "you okay?" he asks, a concerned expression on his face.

erin nodded simply, giving him a small smile. "yeah, just a little chilly," she half lies, trying to cover up her embarrassment.

schlatt liked to keep the house remotely cool, so this didn't come as a shock to him. he had always felt that it was much easier to help yourself get comfortable in colder temperatures versus warm.
