SCHLATT was next to join erin in the kitchen, asking if she was ready to go.

doing what they initial came for, schlatt snags his hat from the counter and places it upon erin's head. it fit loosely, sliding down in the front. she reached up and adjusted it slightly, tilting it upwards so she could see schlatt who supported a wide grin.

"you ready?"

erin returns the smile and nods, causing the hat to tip down yet again.

surprisingly the ride wasn't home awkward, at first. they talked about plans for the rest of the evening, and what erin was going to be up to once she got back to her apartment in arlington.

she wondered what that would mean for them, but she didn't want to push her luck. instead erin recapped the key parts of her visit starting with meeting his cats, her wired interview, and hanging out with the guys. she chose her words wisely, making sure to gloss over specific events and recent interactions.

that was until schlatt drew his own concerns about the one and only blarg. he had noticed how matt's eyes lingered on erin, how he laughed a little too loudly at her jokes. it bothered him more than he cared to admit, so of course he made note to bring it up on the drive home.

"so what did matt have to say?" he asks as he keeps his tone casual, flipping the turn signal down before checking his blind spots

"about what?" erin questions even though she knew the moment he was referring to.

"in the kitchen, he was basically drooling all over you."

"okay, i don't think he was drooling!" erin laughs out. "he was mostly just poking fun at how awkward things got after cam posted on her story."

"yeah that makes sense" he says as he leaned back slightly in his driver seat. "i don't know, i guess it was just kind of odd watching you guys be all buddy buddy." sure he was still unsure of his relationship with erin, but the idea of him loosing her to someone else that was clearly interested in something more made him feel uneasy.

schlatt glanced over to erin who shrugged slightly, still planning what to say next.
she reached over and pat his thigh reassuringly, letting her touch linger for a moment. "i've never really interacted with him before, i think he was just being kind."

schlatt relaxed slightly at her gesture, but a nagging doubt still ached in the back of his mind. he knew they needed to elaborate further on where they stood, but he didn't have a clear answer in mind.

"well he can take a few steps back." schlatt jokes with a playful tone even though he was dead serious. "as isaac said earlier, you're spoken for."

erin nods in agreement which causes schlatt's heart to skip a beat. she was still so confused on how he could reserve her from others yet couldn't man up to call her his own.

"so this morning," erin starts as she tucks her bangs behind her ears. "you said we could do things at our own pace and see where they take us. is there an end goal?"

schlatt felt a lump in his throat as he slowly inched the car up the driveway. "end goal?" he repeats in question.

"yeah like, how long are we gonna keep this up?"
