Sonic the Hedgehog: Chaos Spectrum

Act 7: Null Space

Sonic and Shadow were unconscious for a while, then they awoke. "We're inside. We got stuck because you tried to save him instead of run.." Shadow blamed Sonic. "Who knows how long time passes here?! One second could be one year.." Shadow continued. Sonic nodded. "But what if time doesn't pass here?" Sonic asked. "Maybe that could happen but how likely is it?" Shadow asked him. Sonic shrugged. "Okay, I'm sick of floating around in nothingness. Let's get out of here." Sonic tried to run now, speeding up and moving in circles. Shadow rolled his eyes. "It won't do you much good here." He stated.

Suddenly something ripped a hole into the zone as fast as Sonic was running. A robot slammed through. It zipped around the open world of nothingness. "How did that get here?! What is it?" Shadow asked. Sonic ran towards it. It ran from Sonic. "Hey! Get back here!" Sonic performed a spindash and smashed it. It's core, which contained an orange glowing light exploded. Sonic and Shadow were sent flying.

 "It's like a chaos emerald..." Shadow stated. Sonic shook his head. "There is no orange emerald..That's something different." Shadow agreed, nodding his head. "But it is powerful  enough to rip through a possibly infinite void.." Shadow stated, approaching it as it glowed. He grabbed it as he himself began to glow orange. "I feel a surge of energy!" Sonic was in awe. "SONIC...FOLLOW MY LEAD!" Shadow yelled.

Sonic realised something. That gemstone had an influence on Shadow's emotional state. He then followed behind Shadow. Shadow then exceeded Sonic's speed as he held the gemstone tighter. He tore a hole through Null Space, the infinite void they previously couldn't escape. They  fell out of the sky now.

They looked down on the city. "This place is getting swarmed by robots all of a sudden!" Sonic yelled to Shadow. "That's right. Catch!" Sonic caught the orange gemstone. He spun into a ball and slammed into a horde of Eggman's machines. "These things can't all have been deployed here this fast...There are some sort of mystical forces at play here.." Shadow stated. "Who knows?" Sonic tossed the gemstone to Shadow.

He dived down, destroying a group of slightly larger robots that had appeared. "Alright, I wonder where-" Shadow looked up and saw Knuckles mowing down a crowd of robots. "SONIC!" Sonic looked at Knuckles as he approached. "This red gemstone I found...It's making me way stronger! I think these were made by.." Knuckles started. "Doctor Eggman." The trio said in unison. They looked above at Tails and Silver shooting down some..Death Egg Robots?! A green light flashed in the sky. 

Suddenly, more and more were sprouting from the green light and destroying the city. "The five of us can take it on! It's fine!" They then noticed Quasar. 

He held the body of Vortex in anger. "You're joking." He said. "Vortex...FAILED!" He then tossed his body to the side. Sonic and the rest looked upon this in shock. He wasn't angry Vortex possibly lost his life, but at the fact that he failed. "Now you will all die!" Vortex turned into a beam of light as he held a green gemstone in his hand. He destroyed the Tornado as Tails helped pick up Sonic and Silver helped pick up Shadow as Knuckles glided through the air alongside them. "This must be..." Silver started. "How they did it. How they took over the world.."

Sonic grinned as he looked at Silver. "They're making stuff out of thin air with those! But so can we!" He grabbed both the orange gemstone and the red. He tore a portal into existence. Out of it came clones of Sonic moving at breakneck  speeds. Quasar flew towards the group but was slowed down, by having to navigate through the swarm of blue blurs. Then immediately, after Quasar had gotten through the horde, an empowered Sonic stomped on his head, slamming him into the ground. "These rocks are great!" Quasar grew angry.

"They're called the Spectrum Stones you ignorant fool!" He got up and swung at Sonic, who dodged and slammed into his side. Sonic then picked up the green spectrum stone. "This is cool." Sonic grew in power. "Woah.." Sonic stood as he glowed red, then orange, then green, and back again. He then lifted his hand. All of the robots that had appeared disappeared into thin air. The city was half-restored to how it previously was, and all was resolved. "So that's the power of these Spectrum Stones.." Quasar was lying flat out on the ground just watching. He was not just beaten, but outnumbered five to one, with none of his allies in the surrounding area and his enemies with three of the seven reality-warping gemstones. 

"You've got to be kidding me." He said.
