(Clarification: if you feel like the story is jumping too fast, it's because the canon story fills in the rest. I'll still try my best to pinpoint where we are in the books but let me know if you don't get it.♡)
LILY
I knew I had decided to help both Kai and Banks to find Damon but guess what? I was already regretting it. Like what was the thinking behind that decision? No thinking. Here's the answer.
Ever since I met with Banks I felt more and more his eyes on me. He was everywhere, I could feel him everywhere. It wouldn't have surprised me if he suddenly appeared in my apartment, but he didn't. He never contacted me again. I guessed he was angry at me for what happened with the boys. I couldn't blame him though, I admitted that was childish on my part. At the same time though, I never experienced anything like that, he did all sorts of sexual things so why couldn't I?I walked through the busy streets of Meridian City, the gray sky loomed over the buildings and it made my mood worse.
I kept on thinking about Kai's information. They had found the hidden floor at the Pope, and there were traces left by Damon but Kai guessed he had another place where he hid. He had no idea where though. Where could he hide? I knew things were getting heavier, it seemed like we were getting closer to him, but I also could feel people moving. I didn't only sense Damon's eyes on me, I knew I was being watched by the Horsemen too, and another dark presence threatened around.I realized this when I started to see some scary looking men, dressed in expensive suits, with pale skin and dark features. I thought it was just my mind playing tricks until one of those men reached out to me at the library. He played it casually, asking me for books. He had a Russian accident and I just knew I was fucked. Damon's father must have smelled something, or maybe Banks snitched on me and now the Torrances were following me to find Damon. I needed to be careful, when I talked with Banks she seemed desperate to find him but not on their father's behalf, so leading Gabriel Torrance to Damon must have not been a good idea.
I walked inside the library, glancing around and not seeing any Russian mafia men. I veered through the aisles looking for my colleague Marie, as she was grabbing some books.
"Hey,girl...can I ask you something?"
I said, as she smiled at me and gently climbed down the stairs. Her arms wrapped around a book as we walked through the aisles.
"Uhm...I read a mystery book, they mentioned a hidden floor but never explained how that worked. How do you think it could work? Like reaching the hidden floor."
I asked, in a hurry. She furrowed her eyebrows at me, true she was an architect and volunteers at the library from time to time but that question was definitely weird on my part."Hidden floors aren't that unusual, actually. They were used by hotels for their staff or simply as utility rooms. Since they were used mostly by those people they could be reached by elevators. Maybe in the basement? Or boiler rooms..." She explained, I couldn't feel her eyes on me as I lost myself in my thoughts. Yes, the basement made sense. Which is how Kai found The Pope's hidden floor. So what we needed was to find another place where a hidden floor could have been built.
"Lily?" Marie called me, stopping in her tracks. I shook my head, realizing I wasn't focusing on her.
"Yeah...so, do you know any buildings around here that have those kinds of floors? It's so interesting."
I said trying to not to sound too weird, my eyes looked at her, hesitantly. She tapped on her chin, and then her own eyes lit up.
"Actually, you know how my dad, and his father, and his father too were all in the construction field? Apparently they all worked for the Torrances." She said, and I stilled. What? I mean okay, it made sense for her father and maybe grandpa to have worked with Damon's family. The Pope, the Torrances' hotel was built in the nineties. How did her great-grandpa work for the Torrances, though?
