My time to shine

Tess got 3rd in her Barrel racing compaction, now it's my time.

"Welcome everybody to the Mt. Isa rodeo"  the announcer yelled I was nervously waiting for my name to be called. My mum always told me when nervous think of your favourite song so I think of Turn n Burn by Sam Riggs  "now a local girl, please everybody lets help me welcome May O'Haron on her horse Midnight" now was my time, I walk Midnight to the starting gate waiting till they open the gate, I feel my breath going in and out slowly then the gate opened, I didn't even do anything but Midnight started running the first barrel I just touch it, the second was a little wide and the third was the best out of them all I could feel Midnight giving his all I wanted to look at the clock but I new things would go bad if  do. As soon as I pass over the line I look behind me 13.5 great time. "and that was May O'Haron with the best time for the day, she might be the winner folks." I hope he was right I want to win, that's not a bad thing. Is it?

"we have had some terrible luck with them bulls, our last competitor is Ned. Ned has just moved back from, well I don't now where but he's back" the luck on the riders was bad one of the riders is now in hospital. Ned moved slowly over to the bull his eyes were filled with fear and sorrow, he spotted me and gave a weak smile.

Ned POV

As I walk over to the bulls I feel the fear then I spot May in the crowd, I didn't think she would show since I have been a jerk to her, I try to give her a confident smile but it turned out more of a lost one. I jump on the bull, the way he snorts and moves I know I will be thrown. I give the nod. As soon as the gate opens the bull bucks I try to lean back to stay on but nothing works I  had to give up. ahh, I hit the dirt I look up a bit my face stinging from the fall the bull was still bucking and running while the rodeo clowns were trying to contain him.

May POV

I screamed at the top of my lounges, yelling at Ned to get away the bull was bucking closer and closer to him and I was getting scared and scared for him, then it happened

Ned POV

I woke up a couple of days later in a hospital bed, May was asleep on one of the chairs still in the same cloths as the rodeo but she was wearing a different belt. Mum was sleeping on the chair beside her in her work uniform, I try to sit up but my head hurt so bad, I must have groaned because May woke up.

May POV

Ned had been in a comer since the rodeo when the bull ran over him. The doctor said if he didn't wake up in a week they would take him off his life support. I must have fallen asleep because when I woke up Ned we looking at me "oh my god your, your alive" was all I could get out "um, yeah i'm alive" his voice was croaky from not talking for days, I leant over to wake up his mum "please don't. I, I think she should get some sleep" as that an excuse to talk to me or was he just thinking of her "how was your event" I looked up to him, he didn't come and watch me "alright I got first" his face lit up "you, won?" I smile like I thought I wouldn't win "corse I won you idiot" We didn't talk for a while the silence "ya know I got asked to go on a rodeo tour" he had a blank look on his face "oh, really" he seemed disappointed "i haven't decided wether I'll take it or not" it didn't bring his mood up "you should take it dear" I quickly spin around from when I was kneeling beside Ned's bed to see his mum looking at us "don't worry I didn't hear anything else" I better get home, if I stay away one more day dad might start drinking" I walk out of a happy moment, when I get to the UTE I sit down on the drivers seat and sigh with relief, I reach my had up on to the sun visor and pull out a photo of me and Ned that was taken a couple of weeks ago and stare at it looking at how happy we were.

Ned was out of hospital in a couple of days, I didn't know how to tell him "guess who's out of hospital" a voice from behind me says as they cover my eyes "ummm, Dolly Parton" trying to keep it a secrete although I new who it was  "nope" "oh, I know Jason Aldean" "no again" I start to laugh and turn around " I new it was you" he gave a weak smile, then his smile turns to a flat faced look "did you take the job" I had to tell him "yeah I did" " good I had taken a job in another cattle station owned by my aunty" oh he was leaving "that's great" I was trying to give my happiest smile for him "when do you leave?" I didn't want it to be before I do "Tuesday or 2 days, when do you leave? " "Tuesday too" we had a bit of a laugh " I have to leave I must pack now I have my P I can travel" I can leave all this place.

Tuesday

another before dawn day my NEW ute was in the driveway with the gooseneck parked with it I had packet all my cloths the day before and all my tack was packed, Midnight and Bambi were ready to be loaded, I was on the road by 9 "cowboy take me away, fly this girl as high as you can into the wild blue" singing at the top of my lungs down the highway. ready for any adventure.

for this whole chapter I have been thinking and dying to watch McLoed daughters which is my new favourite show, I told myself I would right a chapter. I LOVE THE SHOW.
