I sob in my car, gripping the steering real. I gasp and struggle to breathe as the cries clog my throat. I rub my temples as a slow depressing song plays catering to this moment, as I take in the songs words I feel my heart break over and over.

I drive down the road with choked back sobs and tear stained cheeks, I turn up the volume to muffle my cries. I shake my head and attempt to wipe my tears when I realize that I can't stop crying and it's all the songs fault. I take out the CD and chuck it out the window hoping that it gets repeatedly ran over.

My hands shake as my grip on the wheel loosens and the trembling takes over. When I think I'm about to calm down, I cover my mouth and drive with one hand as everything comes rushing right back to me, but thankfully I made it to my apartment complex.

I exit my car, holding a grocery bag, I hang my head low as I walk down the street to get to the main entry. A gray van is keeping up with my walking tempo and I hear chattering from inside the vehicle but I choose to ignore it.

I get inside and set the bag down as I search for my mail keys when someone approaches me. "Y/N." I look up and see my neighbor and somewhat-friend. "Frank." I echo back. Frank opens his mailbox and pulls out two envelopes, "Jesus. The only Valentine's Day cards I get are from my mother. How pathetic is that, huh?"

I look at the items in his hand and shake my head as I try to open my mailbox. "You're lucky you have Alex, man." He says to me, "He is way cool. Hey- you got any big Valentine's Day plans with him?"

I look at him and see him shuffle the two envelopes, I see one of the yellow envelopes have LACUNA INC. printed on the upper left hand corner. "No." I respond gathering my belongings, deciding that today is not the day I wish to get my mail because of this pestering.

"Well, it's only a day away. Better make some reservations or something." He says as his eyes follow my movement. "Don't want to end up at Mickey D's. Right?" He jokes as he follows me down the hall, "McRomance!"

I let out a fake laugh as I attempt to walk to my door but he continues, "You want some fries with that shake?" I walk a bit but look back, "I have to, uh, go to sleep now, Frank." He looks down at his wristwatch, "It's 8:30."

I change into a brand new pair of pajamas and get some water to chase the pill I'm about to take, I cringe as I feel it slide down my throat.

I pause in my tracks when I hear a commotion outside, curious, I walk over to my window and I can make out some of the conversation. "Gia, stop it." Weird, its the same gray van from earlier, I pull down my privacy blinds and take a breather.

I turned off all of my lights as I prepared to go to sleep.

"Hey, Y/N. What's up?"

"Oh. Hi, Frank."

I scrunch open my eyes and turn to the right of me and see that it seems like my dream is replicating my encounter with Frank from earlier.

"I only get Valentine's Day cards from my mom. How pathetic is that?"

It's like the lights dim and cover us in darkness as Frank's face isn't visible anymore and is just completely enveloped in the shadows.

"You're lucky you have Alex, Y/N." Sweat beads fall from my forehead.

"He is way cool. Hey- you got any big Valentine's Day plans with him?"
