In Daniels house, the young boy is watching the news about, a recent disaster that happened which took many lives while his mother is on the phone. Maria finishes her call before turning to her son.

Maria: "Good news: your aunt's job is saved! She's on unpaid leave while they're making repairs."

Daniel: "No way! That's a relief."

Maria: "I noticed how you acted yesterday, are you okay? You can talk to me, you know?"

Daniel laughs off his mother's concerns

Daniel: "I'll be fine, mom."

The boy gets up and goes to his room so his mother can have a turn on the TV.

Maria: "Finally, I thought he was never gonna leave."

The mother flips through Disney plus on a secret account until she finds what she's looking for: Bleach.

Maria: "He can never know."

In Daniels room, he looks around for something to do until he sees the Spider-Man comic he never got to read. He walks beside it to grab the book while simultaneously going to his bed but the second he touched it, his finger tips started tingling before the strange sensation spread throughout his body.

Daniel: "This is new."

The teen could only say as his body started sparkling blue and red. He starts floating as the bright color of the sparkles gets intense almost mystical like, he felt his body stretch, his muscles tighten, his senses becoming more sharper than ever, suddenly his clothes seem to evaporate as it gets replaced by a red and blue spandex.

The transformation concluded as the sparkles dissipated, the only thing left was a tall masculine figure in red and blue, replacing the boy previously there.

???: "What...what happened, who said that!? My voice..."

The figure regains their footing and looked at a mirror, the only thing looking back at them was someone in a red mask with black webbing pattern lines and white expressive eye lenses

???: "What am I doing in a Spider-Man costume, why am I so tall, where did these muscles come from and are these real?"

The figure dressed as Spider-Man asks himself in one go as he was about to touch the web shooters attached to the suit before his head started tingling and he can hear, feel, sense footsteps approaching his room. Spider-Man starts to panick as he doesn't know what to do, he looks the ceiling and thinks for a minute.

He jumps onto the ceiling and to his surprise, remains on it as his mother opens the door

Maria: "Baby boy? Are you in here, are you okay?"

Spider-Man stays silent so she can leave but she doesn't, left with no choice he begins to crawl out of the room.

Spider-Man: "How am I doing this, it's impossible, it has to be a dream."

The figure in red and blue successfully exits the house and sits on the roof of the house, he looks at the suburban streets of Johannesburg, he looks behind him to see a forest and looks down at his wrist.

Spider-Man: "If this is a dream, I don't think I wanna wake up."

His index and middle finger click down on the button on his palm and a web shoots out, sticking on one of the trees, he jumps off and swings off into the various trees.

It was hard to control and he hit a few branches but he slowly adjusted, starting to swing like a pro. He lands on a rock and looks down at a puddle which reflects his mask at him

Spider-Man: "This is something else..."

Time skip to a few hours later

In a decently sized house, Daniels relatives were just going about their day, his cousin: Lerato was sitting in her bed reading Character x reader fanfics. Suddenly her window opened as Daniel crawls through, still in spider form.

Spider-Man: "Don't scream."

Lerato: "Aaaaaaaaaaargh!!!"

The young girl jumps up and runs to her door to open it but a web is shot out and it covers the handle.

Spider-Man: "Listen cuz' it's me, Daniel!"

Lerato: "Y-you're not my cousin, he's way too short! I mean, he would crawl into my room dressed as Spider-Man sure but you're way too tall and you sound different!!"

Spider-Man: "I don't know what happened to me, I just touched my comic back home and before I knew it, I was having my leap of faith moment."

Lerato's eyes widen at the reference the figure made, only one person she knew would make pop culture references.

Lerato: "Hebana." (Hebana: "South African term for oh my gosh") "Daniel, is that you?"

Spider-Man: "Yes!"

Lerato: "How did all of...this happen!?"

Spider-Man: "It all started last night, something fell from the sky, it was some sort of enchanted comic book and today, I touched my comic and became...this!?"

Daniel gestures to himself

Lerato: "I'd have a hard time believing you if the proof wasn't in front of me."

She starts circling the Web Warrior

Lerato: "Do you have a time out?"

Spider-Man: "What is this, Ben 10? No, I don't think I have a time out."

Lerato: "Do you have the powers?"

Spider-Man: "Wall crawling, superhuman strength and webs."

To demonstrate, he shoots a web again.

Lerato: "Cooool, can you swing me to Spur!?"

Spider-Man: "Dude..."

Lerato: "I'll buy."

Spider-Man: "Dude!"

Lerato: "Fine, fine...do you think you can turn back?"

Spider-Man: "Probably, but I don't know how."

Lerato: "Maybe it's a mental thing, try telling your body to turn back."

Spider-Man: "Okay, okay..."

Daniel closes his eyes and concentrates. A few moments later, he begins sparkling again before the bright light shines through the bedroom, when it calms down, Daniel is back to human form.

Daniel: "I'm...I'm me again, I'm back!"

The two siblings give each other a brief hug.

Lerato: "I told you, I'm always right! Wait, I just realized something..."

Daniel: "What?"

Lerato gives him an excited smile

Lerato: "You have superpowers now!!"

To be continued.
