Variety: The Shape Shifting Vigilante

Variety Part Two

Hi everyone, after this chapter, I have to go on Hiatus because exams will be starting soon, so sorry to those who were looking forward to more chapters.

At a local highschool, in a classroom, the teens chat amongst themselves while Daniel sits at his desk with the very same comic he transformed with on the table, his cousin sits in the chair in front of him.

Lerato: "Come on, dude, you've got this..."

Daniel touches the comic and...nothing happens, he remains in human form.

Lerato: "YES!!"

Lerato's outburst causes the rest of the class to look at her, she awkwardly waves in response.

Student: "Weirdos..."

Lerato turns back to her cousin.

Lerato: "So I was thinking that maybe I could get you more comics, I mean, you can't always be Spidey right?"

Daniel: "Woah, woah, woah! I just managed to stop triggering the transformation when I touch the book and you want me to turn into a different character, this whole thing is scary enough as it is."

Lerato: "I know but-..."

Daniel: "But nothing cuz. If it's okay with you, I think I'd rather forget about these...abilities."

Lerato: "With great power comes great-...sorry, you're right, guess I got a little too excited."

Daniel smiles at her

Daniel: "It's okay."

The school bell rings and the two siblings leave the premises to walk home, on the way, Lerato strikes up a conversation.

Lerato: "...Does it bother you that I'm your only friend?"

Daniel: "Not really, does it bother you?"

Lerato: "Of course not, it's just...Eish, I wish you had a more interesting social life."

(Eish: South African phrase for "shit".)

The two turn on a corner only for a burning apartment to fill their vision. There are firefighters, police officers, ambulances and civilians who were rescued on the scene.

The duo gets closer but where stopped by an Officer.

Police Officer: "Stay back please! Step away from the scene!"

Daniel amongst the screaming, hears a woman trying to push her way back in the burning building, shouting about her child who is still in there.

Lerato: "Oh man, this is bad, what do you think caused-..."

The young girl turns to see that her cousin has disappeared.

Lerato: "Nani!?"

In an alleyway, not far from the scene, Daniel unzips his back and pulls out the comic of the bright character in red and blue.

Daniel: "Can't believe I'm about to do this!"

He places his hand on the comic and the transformation triggers, I bright light engulfing him as his body changes again. When the light calms down, Daniel was nowhere to be seen and replacing him was the Wall Crawler himself.

Spider-Man: This better work."

Daniel gets on a building across from the burning one

Spider-Man: "What do I do!? What do I do!?"

Suddenly Daniel gets rush in his head as he gets flooded with flashbacks of memories which weren't. The memories were of a bright young man who was picked on as a kid for his intelligence, got bitten by a radio active spider that gave him extraordinary abilities.
