Nothing is same,
nothing seems to make sense anymore and;
Everything is catastrophic.
These were the only thoughts popping up inside Mile's mind, up to the point that it compelled him to break up with his girlfriend in the most nonchalant way possible, devoid of all kinds emotions and sympathies. "Let's break up.", were the only three words he bespoke as though whatever the two shared for past several months meant nothing.
" It's because of Apo,isn't it? ", Preen asked, obviously already knowing the answer and Mile was absolutely speechless trying to form a sentence as aligned as delicate beads of jade in a bracelet.
" I am sorry Preen currently I am stuck in the midst of a madding crowd. I am beyond confused and I don't want you carry the burden of my chaos and feel cheated upon.", he explained, "You deserve someone better than me and I think whatever we felt for eachother was nothing more than a teenage infatuation."Tears rolled down the young girl's cheeks. She sprinted away from the football ground without turning back. Her ego was hurt; her heart was broken; and the most shocking fact was that it all was because of a mere autistic boy who was completely dumb and deaf without a magical hearing machine.
_____________
Mile was not too affected by the break up nor was he surprised by his ex's reaction. He surely did feel bad for her but he also felt his shoulder lighter; free from a sort of burden.
While he sat on his bicycle viewing the setting sun, he saw Apo rushing towards him with his bag hanging in the front just like the day he chased their car from the orphanage on Christmas; Mile couldn't help but chuckle recalling their first meet; Perhaps certain things were the same."Slow down cowboy, I am not gonna leave you.", he spoke smiling when Apo reached him and handed over his bag.
" Be careful po, hold on tight. ", Mile instucted and purposefully accelerated the bike.
Apo on the other hand was stunned by his mate's action and hugged his waist tightly as a reaction, resting his head on the other guy's broad back.
His cheeks were tainted pink and couldn't stop giggling although he had promised to move on; maybe Mile indeed was an asset he couldn't afford to lose.___________
When both the boys reached their house, Anna was back with her mom for the weekend.
She observes a special glint in Mile's eyes, same as the one she had when she realised her deep affection towards her cousin; which was unfortunately left unrequited. She wanted to confess to him by the end of current visit; irrespective of his response and reaction;
Perhaps he might accept her proposal.When she questioned him, 'what was the reason behind indescribable change? '
"You see it too? Is it wrong? ", were the only answers she received followed by a chucked sob.
It seemed like he was rather questioning himself.
While all the members were seated around the dining table for a hearty supper, Mile bearly touched his food. Apo and I nudged him several times but just received a sorrowful smile in return.Did he collide with a truck while returning from school?
He looked cheerfully terrible.On the other side her irrevocably declared love arch enemy looked at him with a concerned facade. But the two seemed to have grown distant compared to the past. Their comfort bubble seemed to have turned thinner and not strong enough to withstand entry of a stranger energy.
Perhaps they had grown used to each other and had discovered others._____________
"Bunny what's wrong with you? Did you fight with someone? Did you fight with Apo?",
Anna questioned tired of the animosity in her surrounding environment, on the terrace." It's nothing Anna. I think you might be tired by the journey; you should go to sleep.", he spoke clearly distressed.
"Just stop beating around the bush and ignoring me. You better speak up before I kill you Mile Phakphum Romsaithong.", she yelled looking at him.
