Meanwhile, with mark.
He had been looking at the building to see how to break in and decided now was the time. Mark quietly broke into the safe house to find a police man faced away from him listening to music so he was unable to hear the window sliding open, Mark could hear the girls talking upstairs in worried voices, and they were right to be worried because the devil had finally arrived on their doorstep. He saw an alarm clock on the side. Mark grabbed it snacking it over the man's head knocking him out, he dropped the alarm on his head "snooze!" he cackled then tied the man up. He looked at the gun in his right hand "okay, one bullet, all my others are in the woods. I'll use it on the police men" he lifted the axe he was holding going to the stairs. "Hey girls time to come downstairs, I want to pay a visit" Echo shouted "who are you?" "I'm Mark of course. Do you remember me? I'm the one who wanted to kidnap you as a ransom, you know the one the police are hiding you from" he entered the room "boo!" he cackled the girls moved to the back wall, Mark said "no need to panic, I'm just paying a visit" he then lifted something out the bag putting it on. Echo's voice was shaken from fright "what, w-what is that thing you're wearing!?" he looked at her saying something that was muffled by whatever it was, Lily asked "what?!" he lifted it "it's a gas mark" he nodded, then put it back down making sure it was secure. They both frowned "why are you wearing it!?" asked Echo. He looked at her in confusion saying something, again it was muffled by the mask. Lily asked "what are you even saying?!" he lifted the mask again "because of the gas!" Echo looked scared "what fucking gas!?" he put the mask back down then took two canisters out his pockets, when he spoke they understood what he said "well... this gas" he pulled the pins rolling them across the floor. The girls started chocking until they passed out with Mark laughing the entire time watching them fall.
About an hour later.
The police men who was still downstairs was tied up and Lily was slowly waking up. She looked around, it looked like the room was completely empty. She attempted to get up but, she was chained to the wall, so she tried to pull on the chains but nothing was working Mark's voice from somewhere in the room said ''don't bother trying to escape, it's impossible. Echo tried it, but err yeah it didn't really go well for her at all so don't go down the same road'' ''what happened to her? Where is she? Tell me what you've done to her, or I'll fucking kill you!'' "Well that's very strange that you think that can happen, you will not be the person to kill me I will make sure of that, also about where she is" Mark lifted her bloody head out of a bag. ''well let's just say she's got a little headache and I don't think pills and a glass of water is going to help with this one, this one is a little more long-term, and you're going the same way'' ''no please don't! POLICE HELP!!'' ''I wouldn't bother he's a little tied up at the moment'' he raised his axe ''now say something funny'' ''why?'' ''I want good memory's'' he then killed her. He went downstairs the police men yelled ''please don't kill me!'' ''But you're so close, and you know who I am'' he exhaled looking worried "ple" before he could finish Mark shot him then left the house ''I know my next victims. It looks like Delilah won't have a father or a new mother!''
When it was day 144.
Tom and Oswin were looking through the woods from the tower at the huge fire engulfing the entire forest destroying everything in its path. The air was entirely orange and black because of the high amounts of smoke, leaves on fire would pass the windows, they even heard a howl of a wolf in the woods over the crackling of the fire, it was sad hearing that because they knew it wouldn't survive. Oswin drank some of her drink, then said "you know, they have put this entire place on a code red, people have come in from around the world because this is a world record for the biggest fire ever recorded in history" Tom nodded "yeah, normally you hear of world records like tallest man or biggest feet and their good normal records, you don't normally hear about the worst world records like biggest fire or biggest natural disasters, that is a little strange to me, but what do I know?" Oswin nodded "yeah, you know they're moving us in 4 days" Tom said "we need to kill Mark before they come and get us" she nodded "then let's go, Delilah is asleep. Mark can't be far everything is on fire. He must be around here in about a 5-mile radius, we need to find him, and he probably wants us to find him" Tom grabbed the gun "this ends tonight!" they went out of the tower, blocking it off so no one could enter. They then walked off, Oswin said "you walk in front, you're the one with the axe" they began slowly walking, Oswin said "the single moment either of us feel like we're being watching like both at the same time, we might know that he's about and our body is preparing us" Tom nodded "yeah that makes sense."
About 15 minutes later.
They got to a line of burning trees. Oswin yelled "look ahead over there directly in front of us!!" Tom span round looking into the trees at an outline of a person in the woods, Tom and Oswin shot off towards it. The person turned running into the woods slowly because of his injury which immediately told them it was indeed Mark. They chased him right into the burning woods which wasn't the best idea chasing a crazy person, but they had to end this. When they came round the corner. They saw Mark in the centre of a clearing, behind him was two forks tower the bottom of which was ablaze. The surrounding trees and some grass were also being eaten away by the hungry fire, Mark smiled "so here we are the end of the line. It's finally here, isn't it? The day we've all been dreaming about since we started this small adventure" Tom whispered "I'm not going to shoot him yet. We need to give him a choice, just trust me I have a plan, everything is going to be okay. Trust everything I say, even if it's insane" Tom stepped forward "Listen to me right now, you have a choice I can kill you, or you can walk away and get arrested for what you've done but strangely enough I forgive you for what you have done, so you being arrested isn't something I would be angry about. No one else would, but I forgive you... after everything you've done, killing the girls, crippling my daughter and trying to kill us, I am a better person than you are" he laughed "you idiot, this is why you're about to die, and your bodies will burn It will look like nothing happened to you, and you'll be dead then I'll get out of this place into the real world where I will spread more chaos and that's on you, you're daughter will have to live on forever having no idea what happened to you, she'll always be left wondering. That has to start with murdering some little fuckers" he grabbed an axe swinging it at Tom. Tom grabbed it and started trying to push him backwards, but it didn't work Mark punched Tom in the face, Tom fell to the ground, Mark smiled at Oswin "come here Oswin!!" he ran forward. He tried to swing at Oswin barely missing her. Mark swung down chopping her axe in half sending splinters everywhere "nothing is going to stop me now Oswin!" she tried running back, but he got in the way "you're going to die today, just accept that!" Oswin shouted "I remember when you moved into your tower for the first time! You remember our first conversation, you didn't say much, your daughter was funny! Me and her hand many conversations, and now she is dead, look at yourself Mark... is this what Ivy or Mary would want?! Please stop now!" "Ivy and Mary are dead, they don't want anything, they are dead, what they want doesn't matter! I won't stop now!"
Oswin frowned in anger.
"So be it!" she grabbed the handle of the axe hitting the back of it over Mark's head. He grabbed his head "ow! You son of a bitch!" she got up and went to the only place she could run, she ran to the tower which was entirely on fire. As she ran she suddenly started hearing gun fire, but he wasn't a good shot, all of them missed her by some incredible luck however she knew her luck would eventually run out. He tried to fire more, but he ran out of bullets. He grabbed a knife from his pocket licking the blade "some rats are going to die today!" he ran to the tower. Meanwhile. Tom was waking up "ow!" he turned to see him running to the tower. He grabbed his gun "let's end this!" but then something horrible happened, Mark ran up the stairs. Oswin was inside trying to find a weapon. Mark came in "you know, I like you because you have devoted 20 years out here in the woods, and you're still willing to look after the woods, even though it's on fire. It shows true commitment even when it's pointless!" "I love these woods. They helped me escape the horrible life I came from" "yeah, it only seemed fitting that your commitment should get you killed in the place you're so committed to"
