part 41 The final end of Mark

Oswin suddenly yelled.
“I'm not willing to die in this fucking place, because I'm not going to die, I promise you that bitch” “well what are you going to do about it? You're not exactly going to be able to overpower me, I have every upper hand I could have” “Well you see you don't, in all your time-out here you truly have learned fuck all about the forest and how everything works, maybe if you had paid attention you would know that I have a secret weapon” Mark smirked “and what's that?” “Well, it's the biggest bitch of all but a best friend to me and that is nature, bitch and if you had paid attention you would know that nature always wins you son of a bitch” “what do you mean?” suddenly they started hearing loud splintering sounds from below them and the tower began to shake. Mark looked around “what the fuck is that?” Oswin smiled “see what normally happens when a fire starts at the bottom of the tower the frame and wood begin burning which will inevitably result in the wood getting weaker, so Mark if I'm going to die from this forest, I'm going to fucking take you down with me bitch” suddenly the bottom struts of the tower on the right-hand side collapsed completely making the tower begin to fall down. Oswin grabbed the desk which was nailed to the floor screaming as the tower fell however Mark fell against the wall which immediately knocked the wind out of him.
Meanwhile back outside.
Tom had been running towards the tower and when he saw the polls begin snapping he stopped and immediately turned around running away hearing the tower clanging to the ground behind him. He turned around seeing when the tower hit the ground it exploded with flames shooting out the windows and blasting the door apart. Tom ran forward screaming “NO!!” he assumed that Mark had been killed when the tower collapsed however more horribly Oswin had also been killed. However, to his relief Oswin crawled out of the windows of the tower. She had a few cuts all over her, her lip was bleeding but other than that she seemed fine. Oswin rolled over on her back breathing heavily. She began crawling away from the fire as Tom ran over. Mark emerged from the flames getting slowly to his feet clicking his neck back into place which seemed to throw him off balance however he kept moving forward towards Oswin stumbling around. Oswin turned around to see Mark, his head was bleeding, and he looked incredibly angry heavily breathing “this ends today bitch!!” a voice said “yeah, I agree” he lowered the axe turning to see Tom, they both looked angry “remember when I told you I forgive you... yeah I lied, this is for Delilah you son of a fucking bitch! Go to fucking hell!!” he shot him in the stomach, Mark stood for a second holding his side nodding slightly as blood dropped out his mouth, he went to move forward to attack so Tom shot him again, he leaned forward trying to steady himself "fair... fuck you" he fell backwards hitting the ground with a loud thudding sound. Oswin quickly crab walked away looking terrified. Mark somehow was still alive, and he smiled up at them breathing very heavily “you sons of fucking bitches, you'll pay for this you know!” he was spitting blood with every word, he was breathing and speaking slowly, he was also holding his stomach trying to stop the bleeding, but he was done and there was nothing he could do. Tom looked down on him “how will we pay? You're dying just give it up Mark, you are done” “oh you should know better than anyone! Death is just the next step to madness! One way or another you will end up like me! In the end... you'll all end up like me! In fact there are people like me in the world, everywhere, it just takes the slightest push to bring me out, believe me about that!” Tom helped Oswin up.
She looked down at him with anger.
“At least we'll be getting rid of one of them and sending him down to a worse place than hell because you deserve every piece of it, everything you are about to go through is on you” he smiled "see, I don't think you understand the way this works. As long as these scientists are here, I will come back again and again and again and again forever, see because I’m not a man I'm an idea and I live in the shadow of the forest! Whoever comes in here goes mad from me, and that's how it begins more people come in more people go insane” Oswin frowned "what do you know about the scientists" "oh that's for you to work out but remember" he nodded. He began smiling horribly blood running down his lips “believe you me... you'll be seeing me soon!” he started laughing then he died with a huge smile on his lips eyes wide open madness filling his pupils. Oswin went to him “he killed his wife and daughter then almost killed your daughter, he killed a policeman and 2 girls, he started this huge fire for nothing, all of this insanity was for nothing” she slowly approached him then swiftly kicked him in the face completely shattering his nose “he fucking deserved every bit of that!" Tom nodded as the fire from a tree fell on Mark and began to burn him. His face looked even creepier with a huge smile on his face burning away. They turned walking away leaving him there to burn.
About half an hour later.
They could see the tower in the distance, as they walked Oswin said "you know it's weird because he did all of what he did I completely forgot about the scientists and the tests, maybe that's what they wanted or maybe they literally set him on us to begin with" Tom nodded "so did I, that's why I want to come back out here and work out what the fuck is with the scientists and what the experiment was
Oswin nodded "I'll be right there with you" Tom paused then said "there are a lot of things which still haven't been answered, like how was Mark hacking into our radios, I think only the scientists could do that" Oswin nodded "yeah, he spoke of them before he died, maybe he knows more about them than he said, I bet you any amount of money they are connected" "are you saying that he could have been working with the scientists" "I don't think so, I think he was a test subject just like we were however they actually did something to him because he was never like that, madness does cause people to do a lot of things, but he wasn't anything like he used to be, I think the scientists did something to him. When the site burned down it caught fire minutes after you left, I think he was there and if he was why didn't he attack you? I think he was angry with the scientists and had pieced things together, and then he just burned the site down" Tom nodded "possibly, we'll come out here next summer, and we'll work it out because I personally need to know there are still things I need to know" "same, the forest is still full of so much mystery that only we know about"
They went up the tower.
They moved the blockage out the way and went to see Delilah still asleep happily. Tom and Oswin went on the balcony with their backs to Delilah. Tom and Oswin were looking in the direction of the burning tower and where Mark was dead. Oswin gave Tom a bottle of beer, he smiled “thank you” he took a sip “how did you get this so cold” “I put it in the lake then put it in my fridge, so it got frozen on the outside of course” they sat thinking for a while Oswin said “do you think he was right... about the whole madness thing!” Tom shook his head “of course not; there is no curse here Oswin, that was just him going mad” she turned to him “yeah you're, probably... no you are completely right, I think it goes without saying that we can't ever tell anyone about this we murdered a man, for the right reasons yes, but we have no evidence that he did bad things apart from Delilah and the police won't believe he did that, I'm sorry this secret will have to remain in the trees” Tom nodded "yeah, we can't ever tell anyone, what happens when they find his body?" "He's been burned they won't be able to work out how he died, they will just assume he died in the fire, it's not like they will do a huge investigation, and even if they work out he was murdered there is no way they will know it was us... but we have to tell them, we have to tell the world what happened here, we have to tell the police" Tom nodded "of course" Tom asked “what do we do now?” he turned to her, she smiled “whatever we do we need to do it together” he smiled “100 percent agreed on that one” they suddenly kissed each other. Delilah moved herself around on her wheelchair then rolled herself to the door watching them smiling. They kissed for about a minute. When they broke apart, they noticed Delilah “how long have you been sitting there for?” she smiled “err since you started doing it. I'm happy for you 2" Oswin had her arms round Tom. They laughed then pushed her to the balcony watching the fire and the beautiful sunset in the background. Tom said “by the way, well done for getting on the wheelchair by yourself” “it hurt a little, I think once I've had the surgery it will be easier” Oswin nodded “yeah” they then explained to Delilah that Mark was dead. They helped Delilah on her bed then said goodnight to her then they all went to bed tired after a long day.
