The Age Gap

Chapter 3

                              I can't stop smiling
                                    Crystal POV

I make my way walking through the driveway to the front door of my house.

I notice my moms car is in the driveway.

Hmm she's home early.

I put the key inside the door while walking inside.

I hear my mom in the kitchen.

Hey baby, how was school? Did you do okay presenting that essay?

I smile softly at my mom, as I put down my book bag walking in the kitchen.

I did okay mom and school was fine just hanging with Layla.

I say as I sit in the chair in the kitchen.

Well that's good honey, you know I always liked that friend of yours she's so smart and responsible.

I nod, taking a bite of the food my mom is cooking.

My mom looks at me and puts her hand on her hip.

Crystal, I have to go into work today overnight so I won't be home until tomorrow evening.

Promise me you'll be okay without me home ?

She looks at me with concern and seriousness.

I nod and shrug my shoulders looking at the ground.

I'll be okay mommy.

Awww baby I'm sorry, my mom says as she hugs me.

I wish I could be home more, but I have to work for us and our home to put food on our table.

You understand, right ?

She says as she looks at me brushing her hand on my cheek.

Ever since my  dad left and divorced my mom, we have been trying to survive on our own.

My mom works long hard hours while I go to school and help out as much as I can.

I nod at my mom, understanding how important work is for her.

She smiles and grabs her keys and purse kissing my forehead.

Crystal, call me if you need anything alright? I love you !!

My mom says as she walks out the house.

I go upstairs to my room.

As I walk in, I lay on my purple colorful bed.

My entire room is based on a Disney princess named Tiana from princess and the frog.

I love the movie so much that I decided to decorate my room just like it.

As I'm laying in bed I open the text message from Jay that reads.

Hello Princess, so tell me did I look as good as you hoped in person because you definitely caught my eye :)

I blush, my face turning red as I read his message.

He's not wrong though, he did look as good as I thought.
