Eness' search led her to a door

Eness' search led her to a door. It didn't take her long to figure out it was Pranayaa's chamber, the deep purple of the door was too hard to miss.

She jiggled the handle and the lock clicked open.

Sirena had opened the door and let her in, where the rest of her sisters waited for her. She was the last one to get there.

She took a seat on one of the many sofas and let her eyes scour around the bedroom.

The bedroom looked like a peek through a universe. It featured moons, stars, and speckles of little purple galaxies on the ceiling.

(Pranayaa's chamber)

It seemed the empire of Flameheart really went all out for the arrival of the sins.

Eness would have been impressed if it wasn't all too excessive.

"Now that we're all here, let's begin," said Lucinda, as all eyes zeroed in on Eness.

She gulped down a nervous lump in her throat.

"I know. It shouldn't have happened again. I shouldn't have done that, but I can't control it. I'm sorry." She sputtered as she spoke.

All the sisters sighed and Gilamora sat next to Eness.

"Look, I understand why you did, and I'm very grateful for what you did," said Gilamora.

"We all are, Eness," Wrenna started, "but that doesn't change the fact that what you did was reckless and dangerous. My gem was activated, Eness. Against my will. If you had retained the wrath in you longer than you did, I don't know what would have happened—."

She paused abruptly, her voice trailing off.

Eness listened intently, biting her lip in guilt.

"Eness, we are thankful you spoke up, but this 'skill' of yours is getting more and more dangerous. The last time you took on another sin, it was Pranayaa's, and even then, the effects weren't as painful as Wrenna's."
Grizelle added, and looked at Pranayaa, who simply nodded in acknowledgment.

"We know you can't control it, but you have to. The next time it happens, and for ancestors sake there won't be a next time. But if it does, one of us could pay the price. So control, Eness." Sirena warned.

Eness took a deep, shaky breath and turned to Wrenna. "I understand. I'm sorry for hurting you, Wrenna."

Wrenna smiled, a twinge of understanding in her dark eyes.

She approached Eness with a comforting hand on the shoulder. "It's fine," she said, "now, let's talk about father's reaction when you burnt his hand." Wrenna added, and all the sisters laughed.

"He looked like he'd been slapped across the face." Lucinda added.

"And the screech he let out. That will forever be immortalised in my nightmares." Gilamora quipped.

"Vestergaard should learn not to mess with a sin at her worst. He can't control us then." Sirena commented, and the laughter died down.

Sirena was the only one who refused to call Duke Vestergaard, 'father'. There was nothing wrong with that though.

Vestergaard was their foster patron. He wasn't their real father, because the sins were never born.

They were created when the seven cerulian gems saw need of a new group of sins.

Duke Vestergaard of Pyrefall was selected by the gems to be their foster patron, just like every sin before them had had their foster patrons selected.

The sisters had felt obligated to Vestergaard since they'd been placed in his castle, and he took every opportunity to remind them whose lands they were on, and who gave them their titles.

None of them wanted to admit it out loud, but they all secretly loathe him. He had used them as a means to an end, and still continued to do so.

"Anyways, now that we've gotten that out of the way, what about the emperor's decision of our three month stay?" Lucinda questioned.

"What's there to say about that? We have no choice but to stay. If we leave, Vestergaard will not let us step foot back in Pyrefall castle." Sirena quipped, earning annoyed sighs from her sisters.

"Let's just do our best to cope with all this. We may not be able to perform our duties to Pyrefall, but at least we can still perform our duties to man." Gilamora mentioned, and they all nodded in agreement.

"We'll figure something out. We always do." Grizelle said, with a yawn.

"Mmm hmm. But for now, let's get some sleep. I'm sure we're all exhausted after that long trip." Pranayaa added. To the agreement of her sisters.

They all bid each other good night and went to their respective chambers.

Eness left feeling lighter as she reached her chamber, and slumped down on the comfortable, soft mattress.
