Deception

Chapter 6

"Who are you again?" Lisa asked once again the middle aged woman who barged into her father's home. The woman already introduced herself as Mr. Song Jongki's trusted friend and she visited the manor to personally meet her old friend's only daughter.

Hong Jinkyung is a tall middle aged woman and you can definitely think she's a professional model with her slim physique. She's sporting a short hair that looks like it was chopped evenly from front to back and with a little bangs. She looks like someone you wouldn't want to mess with. Lisa was studying everything about the woman in front of her. She was trying to do a profiling to see if that person is a threat or not. She finished off the strong bourbon drink and put the shot glass on the mini bar. She offered her guest a various drink but the latter settled for a cup of tea.

"There's something you have to know about your father and his work. As well as your missing friend." She was feeling cozy as she sipped on her tea. Lisa was intrigued by who could be this person. She just came out of nowhere. She needed to remind the maids to ensure no one gets inside the manor without her permission.

"How did you know about Minnie?" She was scanning the mini bar which drink she should get next.

"First of, your friend is not missing. She was killed by the circle. And you are going to be next if you will not listen to me carefully, Ms. Manoban."

Lisa was having a hard time to process the first bomb that was dropped by Jinkyung. She couldn't believe that Minnie was already dead. And she will never believe it until she has proof. Also, she didn't understand who the circle are. Why did they kill her friend when Minnie was just visiting this country?

Jinkyung seemed to read her mind, "You will never find any proof about my claim since they tossed her body in the ocean. And I have no reason to bluff about all this. I just felt that I have this sense of responsibility to help out after knowing that Jongki's daughter came to Korea to look for him."

"How can I believe everything you just said?" Lisa's knees turned so weak that she had to sit on the couch. "What did Minnie do to deserve that? I don't understand, Ms. Hong."

"They don't kill without a reason. Maybe she's been a threat which is why the circle killed her."

"How did you know this?"

"I know a lot of things and you will never understand the reasons for these, Ms. Manoban. I don't want you to find the answer. You will never handle the whole truth about the world we are living in. Everything you see and everything that you believe in that this government is making an effort to make this a better place are all lies."

"I don't understand anything. I am more confused right now Ms. Hong. But do you know where my dad is?"

"No one knows if he's still alive or not. All I know is he did ask me to protect you. It was several years ago when I promised him to return the favor when he would need my assistance. I didn't know it would be in this kind of situation."

"Both of you and Mr. Kang Maroo said the same thing when I asked about my dad. I need to find him."

"Kang Maroo?" Jinkyung seemed to question the name that Lisa just mentioned.

"He claimed to be dad's friend just like you."

"Don't trust him. I haven't heard such a name associated with your father. If you want to find out the truth then you can simply open the room in his secret study."

"I already did that and I even hired people to open it for me. It is more complicated than I expected. I am missing the vault's key. The expert did not push the idea since they said it will trigger an explosive device and this whole house will be buried in seconds. If only I had that special key then it wouldn't be this difficult to resolve."
