Chapter 9

I tensed up after seeing the person I long to see. I had never shown any reactions ever since Do Hyun and I joined the Black Ops. I did not expect I would be reacting like a fool. It was fortunate I was able to snap back and carry on my duty without getting distracted. Did I really see Joohyun or was it just my imagination? But it's too impossible. Why would she be part of the circle? Did they also recruit her? Or maybe I was just imagining things. We were walking straight ahead when someone tapped my shoulder. I was like frozen in time that I was unable to move or say a thing.

My reaction was a bit delayed. Then my eyes grew wider when suddenly I was face up close with the woman who looked exactly like my-ex lover. I was out of breath and was determined not to remove my full mask because we are not allowed to expose our identity even if these people were also part of the organization.

"Unnie?" Our new recruit caught my chaotic attention. At least, for once I was not focused on the other woman. She did save me unknowingly.

"Can I talk to my sister?" Even her voice sounded the same. I couldn't take my eyes off her. What's happening? Why is she here?

"Yes, of course." Then Do Hyun talked on my behalf as he was eyeing me who seemed totally fazed. "We will give you some privacy." He was quite being friendly towards the woman who he just met and that annoys me. Of course, she's noticeably pretty and it was not her fault that she could easily attract people. I then realized he was slowly dragging me away from them.

"What do you think you are doing?" I tried to stay cool despite the annoyance.

"I should be the one asking that, Captain." I could see right through his mask that he was matching me with a glare.

"Your attitude towards your Captain is rather inappropriate, Lieutenant." I responded.

"You seemed not your usual self. What is this about?" He asked. "It bugs me. What made you distracted? This is not you." His gaze turned to the new recruit talking to her sister. And he gave me a playful grin.

"What?" I asked.

"Yeah, she's definetely your type." He was lowkey teasing me out of nowhere. So I also watched the two women who were talking not too far from us. The new recruit's sister looked at me intensely and I had to look away. If that was really Joohyun she could have already noticed me even if she can only see my eyes. "I knew it. Look at you Captain. You are blushing!" The idiot continued to tease me.

"No, I am not." I firmly said. "I'll go ahead and you wait for the new recruit so you can do the orientation. I am kinda dizzy. You know it has been ages since the last time I was able to travel this far."

"Tsk, excuses. You are really no fun." Do Hyun showed his disappointment but I don't give a fuck about it. I was more concerned about the woman who looked exactly like my ex- girlfriend.

I threw her one last glance before I walked away. I had a mixed feeling about her. And I didn't know exactly what to feel more. I bit my lip and smiled bitterly. Good thing I was wearing a full face mask and no one could notice my expression aside from Do Hyun who knew me so well.

We stayed at the guest's house. It wasn't that bad. The facility may be old but everything is still functional. I leave everything in Do Hyun's hands. It's not the Captain's duty to do the briefing and he's capable enough to do any tasks. We are not allowed to roam around or be seen anywhere inside the ground if it is not an official business so I planned to just stay inside the room until the next instructions. We were looking for potential recruits however only one person step forward to join us. It would be crucial for us to form the specialized unit. The new 7 recruits were all skillful enough but it would take them 3 to 5 years until they can completely join us. They are like seeds that we planted secretly inside the ground and they serve as our intel. Which was why the directress recommended visiting the ground and meeting the members of the circle in pretense that we need new recruits. Also, this is not the only purpose that we are here. We are simply doing a recalculations how to overturn the High Order. The kids' identities would be blown if we approach them right now. For sure Do Hyun has probably got the assassins data information. Since it is classified we don't have the information about the people who work inside and outside the ground. They have managed to run the circle for many decades without being known to the public. Even my dad attempts to destroy the organization failed. We are here to finish his work. The task that has been long overdue. It's time to end this era and set the assassins free from the High Order.
