Chapter 17: heroin highway
Season 5 Episode 17: Breaking Point
*Trigger Warning*

Isabella and Jay followed behind Hank and Alvain as they approached the scene where an Alderman had been killed in an alley downtown.

"A Streets and Sanitation worker found him an hour ago," a female detective reported to Hank. "GSW to the head. Time of death was between 2:00 and 3:00 AM based on lividity."

"Witnesses?" Hank asked as they gathered around the body.

"None have come forward."

"Yeah, this place is pretty dead after hours, Sarge. I doubt anybody was here," Jay said as Hank knelt down to examine the body.

"Pockets turned inside out. Wallet, watch, and cell phone are gone," the detective said as Hank removed the yellow cover from the head.

"Any signs of a struggle?" Isabella asked the female detective.

"Nope, looks like a robbery gone wrong."

"Do you know what Alderman Burton was doing down here?" Hank asked, standing up.

"Drinking at the Crown Pub. The bartender said he was with a banker, Rudy Finnegan, until closing."

"We'll go talk to him," Isabella said, nodding.

"I was with Alderman Burton for about two hours

"I was with Alderman Burton for about two hours. He wanted me to invest in some urban revitalization project in his ward," Rudy Finnegan explained as he walked with Isabella and Jay through the building.

"At midnight?" Jay asked, confused.

"Oh yeah, he insisted that we meet after dinner. He seemed desperate for cash," Rudy continued.

"What do you mean?" Isabella asked, her hands tucked into the pockets of her trench coat.

"Well, he offered to pay 15% interest. That's double the market rate. We're friends, but that made me nervous. So I passed," Rudy said, his phone beeping. "Oh, then I got into my Uber at 2:01 outside the bar, and Burton went down the street," he added, showing them his phone.
