Sabrina's POV
Alpha Erebon turns his Ferrari onto the highway and we head to the mountains while the sun dips below the horizon, blinking away the last of any sunlight.
Alice was only 3 years old, Noah 4, they were both scared of the dark. I am anxious to see them. I believe Erebon; that Natascha took my girls to his packhouse in advance.
I press my forehead to the passenger window as I watch the trees flash by, each one another distance further from that bloodied home.
A deep seated relief, for my new freedom, is mixed with a knowing I'm now a widow.
I always loved my husband... I never thought this is how my marriage would end.
"You're worried about your daughters," Erebon talks and I quickly look over my shoulder at him driving. The car is low, and he's big for the supercar. Looks a little crammed in. His rusty brown hair is darker at night, his eyes are jet black. I didn't think he was a lawyer, but I knew his older Alpha brother was. Erebon was the bad boy, the troubled one.
"Will I see them right away?" I ask.
"They'll be at the front door waiting," Erebon promises, then focuses back on the road.
I turn back to the window, the silence between us isn't awkward – but rather I feel like I can sense the Alpha's full-blown curiosity about my situation.
"How did you know?" I ask.
"Your nightmare of a husband was brought to my attention. You're protected now, don't worry about a thing, omega," Erebon trails off, before asking, "Any more questions?"
"I've heard the rumours, that you have a gang of Sub-Alphas," I nervously look over at him driving again, "...I don't want my daughters to..."
"My brothers would never hurt you or your daughters," Erebon looks at me with a fury. I know they're not biologically related to him, so for him to call his pack of degenerate and rejected Alphas, brothers, shows me how he feels about them. Like family.
"I'm so sorry," I look at my lap in shame, "I was out of place."
"You can say whatever you'd like, Sabrina. But I do understand you'd feel uncomfortable sleeping in the same packhouse as unclaimed Alphas, I'll work on setting you up somewhere different."
"I really don't want to intrude on Royal Greywood territory for too long, I will find somewhere else to live as soon as possible," I decide, "Thank you for rescuing me. You must think I'm really stupid... staying with him ... I never had the strength to leave."
Erebon says nothing. I peek a glance at him and he's glaring out at the road, too angry to speak.
Even though I sense his anger.
I strangely don't feel any threat.
He turns off the exit and into the Greywood backroads.
I see a newly built packhouse up ahead. It's surrounded by cursed witchwood trees. A large porch shows Natascha standing with her hand on the heads of my two daughters. My heart swells. I smile.
They wave at me, Alice is holding her favourite blankie with one hand, while Noah holds a large elephant teddy under one arm. I lean forward to see they're both grinning, looking very happy.
Erebon parks the car and I try to leap out of the door – but he grabs my arm violently and I turn to him in a panic, "What?" I gasp out, seeing his hand had quickly snatched my elbow.
"...your bruises..." Erebon stares at my face and his grip loosens.
"Oh, you're right, I forgot from all the adrenaline," I reach into my pocket and I pull out a used little foundation. Erebon is still staring and I blush from his excruciatingly sharp eyes, "I'm so sorry that I look a mess. I – give me a minute. Sorry. Sorry."
