The four young wizards were exhausted from their week of planning their Halloween and walking around the castle all day. So, after the feast, they made their way to the courtyard to take a moment's rest. Melinda stared at the setting sun as the daylight disappeared into the horizon. Her head rested comfortably on Kedan's shoulder.

"I'm surprised Rhodes didn't give us much of a fuss," Dahlia spoke. They had been previously discussing their Slytherin peer's lack of enthusiasm, which Aurelia defended with her life because she never cared for holidays either.

"It must be because he's scared of me." Aurelia smiled smugly. "After I knocked him down he hasn't been able to look me in the eye." She spoke menacingly, thinking back to the dispute.

"Trick or treat, half-blood!"

Melinda could still hear his cackles and disgusting remarks toward her. She hated the way it made her feel. She hated that she let him get under her skin so quickly.

Kedan scoffed at Aurelia. "I do doubt that, Elli." The girl turned to look at him darkly.

"And why is that?" She muttered, annoyed by his skepticism.

"Well, allow me to remind you," Kedan spoke. "I recall that it was me who brought him down the first time when he stole all the party supplies."

Aurelia bit her lip and frowned, annoyed by the boy undermining her. "You've got a good memory."

"Thanks." Kedan nodded.

"Wasn't a compliment. It's a competition now though." She stood up, and Kedan rolled his eyes as she did so.

"Don't take things so personally, Elli." Dahlia reasoned with her.

"No, no, I'm not taking anything personally." She assured the other girls. "I'm scheming now."

"For what?" The group asked simultaneously.

"For bringing down Rhodes!" She exclaimed like it was obvious. "I'll scheme up my plan, and you—" She pointed at Kedan, motioning for him to stand up. He obeyed reluctantly. "—you will scheme up yours." She crossed her arms, proud of her proclamation.

Kedan mimicked her action. "No."

Aurelia groaned. "Why?" She whined. "It would be fun, Kedan! Don't you want to see your sworn enemy writhing in pure, neverending pain?" She explained herself but dug herself a deeper hole as well. "We could scare him right now! We've just got to find scary masks and jump out to scare him, and boom! He's petrified."

"Sworn enemy? Whose? Yours?" He asked frantically. "Are you alright, Aurelia? I think the Halloween spirit has possessed you."

Dahlia stood up, gasping. "Aurelia's gone mad!" She exclaimed.
