Overall, Jonathan Kent, aka Superboy, aka Jon, aka one of the people  privileged  enough to be on Damian Wayne's single hand's worth of close friends, was not worrying too hard about this particular trip.

Sure, it was alarming that Lex was going out of his way to host a  ton of teenagers on his home turf as a show of goodwill, he won't  disagree with that, but it was way  too   suspicious! With Luthor's reputation, there's no way that he  wouldn't expect heroes to absolutely be swarming during the event to  keep any funny business from happening.

Jon and Damian had talked a bit after the initial briefing the  night before, letting the younger rant at him a bit about how unfair it  was that Red Robin got to be the one to do "proper recon" with his dad  or something while Bats is having him stick with his class.

" Civilian assistance,  can you believe that! I can far surpass Drake in stealth and he  knows that!" Damian's voice came out a bit tinny over the secure channel  they were on, but the frustration was evident either way.

"It's not a bad thing to be on civilian duty, Damian, I mean-" Jon  hummed as he jotted down something else in his notebook, It's some  pretty basic calculus but he's not super paying attention to the problem  in front of him.

"It's bad practice to leave your sentences hanging, Kent." Jon rolled his eyes.

"Ok, listen I know that this whole thing spells trouble, don't get  me wrong, but isn't this whole thing like, crazy obvious?" there's a  slight pause in the static of the phone.

"I suspect that is the point, it lures more heroes into the city  for Luthor to attempt to take down all at once, that's why this mission  is so important-" a pause.

"And why I should be the one running retcon instead of Drake-" Jon snorted at that slight.

"Yeah I get that but here's the thing, why wouldn't Luthor get  that too? He's some supergenius or whatever but he hasn't figured out  that this kind of stunt is just gonna end with his ass getting kicked  for the whatever-time?"

"That was discussed in the briefing Jon, that's what Drake will be  investigating tomorrow," there's a muffled tch on the other side of the  line, "We'll need to find what's making him so confident." Yeah, that  would fit Luthor's usual M.O. making some new weapon and thinking  that's   what's gonna finally do Superman and the rest of the heroes in.

Only to fail spectacularly of course and get a few days in jail before buying himself out again.

"There's something weird going on and I keep thinking, what if this whole thing's some kind of fake-out?"

"How do you mean?"

"I mean, if we all know this stuff, Luthor's gonna have to know it  too, right? All this attention on what might happen to all these other  teenagers to get the heroes in one place, it's like it's just calling  attention to a possible catastrophe!"

"You're proposing that this is all an elaborate distraction?"  Damian sounds doubtful over the call, but he's not compleately brushing  off his theory so Jon takes it as approval.

"Yeah! There's other weird stuff that's been going on lately  right? Your weird energy pulse thingies!" Jon's calculus homework is  pushed aside and forgotten.

"... Excuse me?"

"A couple of months ago you said something about weird energy  pulse things or something!" After another beat of silence there's a  static groan from Damian.

"Spacial and energy distortions, Jonathan. It's something that Barbara and again   Timothy  flagged months ago." There's some distortion on the other side as Damian seems to move wherever he had his phone sitting.
