Comeback to Me

Prologue...

Third Person's Pov...

Ryujin's and Chaeryeong's senior year had gone by swiftly. Seated on the school's roof, they relished some last-minute moments before having to head off to college. The refreshing breeze brushed against Chaeryeong's face, causing her red hair to sway. Her dark eyes gleamed in the sunlight. Her smile never seemed to fade. The only person who could consistently take in such a breathtaking view was Ryujin.

"Chaeryeong-ah." With a slight dryness on her lips from the wind, Ryujin spoke softly. Ryujin had short blonde hair and always wore her uniform incorrectly. "Hm?" Chaeryeong hummed, She slightly glanced at Ryujin before looking back at the cloudy sky. Ryujin's gaze never left the red head.

"What happens if I am not accepted to Harvard?" She asked, most of her question mumbled. That was until Chaeryeong finally faced Ryujin. She was able to give the older one a smile and a quiet sigh. "You'll make it. I have no doubt in my mind." Her words were softly spoken, and Ryujin smiled in return, unable to contain her admiration for Chaeryeong's beauty and optimism.

======ONE WEEK LATER=========

"We already graduated; aren't you able to attend the party? Come on, it's the last one before we leave for college!" Ryujin insisted, her hands tightly wrapped around Chaeryeong's waist. She was practically begging her to attend their senior party. The younger insisted that parties are foolish and advised her to concentrate on her applications.

"Fine, don't miss me when I'm gone." Ryujin said, and sadly, she let go of her best friend. Guilt crept up on Chaeryeong, and she couldn't think properly as she saw her best friend sitting down sadly before leaving. She quickly fixed herself up and left her room. "I'm ready." She softly said she was a little nervous, but she wore a pretty dress.

"You look beautiful, Chaer... Thank you for coming to the party with me!" Ryujin grinned; she had managed to trick Chaeryeong to go with her. "Don't mention it; I'm coming home by 12:00 am." Ryujin nodded; she had to agree with her or else Chaeryeong wouldn't go.

Once they arrived at the party, it seemed more packed than normal. Chaeryeong shook off her nerves and stuck to Ryujin like glue, to which the other didn't mind. She was used to her best friend's shyness. Ryujin found it cute how Chaeryeong got so shy around others except her.

Of course, since it was a party, they started drinking. Even though Chaeryeong was heavily against it, she sided with her friend and drank shot after shot with her. They kept drinking to the point where they were both drunk as hell... and alone in a room...

"Chaeryeong-ah, you're so hot in that outfit." Ryujin said, grabbing Chaeryeong by the waist. "Hmmm, am I really?" Chaeryeong asked, and she wrapped her arms around Ryujin's nape. She nodded, and their embrace had turned into something more intimate—too intimate.

By the time Chaeryeong woke up, it was already morning. Her clothes were scattered around the room, but no sign of the other was present, except a note that was left by the door: "I'm sorry, Chaeryeong. I can't face you... I shouldn't have done this to you. I was so drunk... from Shin Ryujin." The note read, Chaeryeong cried. She was already dressed, but she knew what they did. Ryujin had male genetalia but was still a girl, and that meant they had done the forbidden.

============

"Don't leave yet!" Chaeryeong said as Ryujin stood at the entrance of their dorm. "I got accepted into Harvard, Chaeryeong..."

"I- It's been three months since we had a proper talk, and I need to tell you..." Chaeryeong paused and shook her head. "Nothing has to change between us... Take care. I'll wait for you to come back." Chaeryeong couldn't say what she originally wanted to say, but why not? What was so terrible about her comment? Ryujin left after briefly hugging Chaeryeong.

Chaeryeong quickly dialed her cousin's number. "Unnie-" She choked in between cries.

"What happened, Chaeryeong!?" Lia asked, her voice was filled with worry.

"I couldn't tell her... I couldn't tell her I am-" Chaeryeong stopped talking, as she couldn't speak because of her loud and painful cries.

"Shhh... It's okay, Chaery; I'll be there in a moment. I'll be with you. I promise." She said reassuring her cousin. Chaeryeong hung up the phone and crawled into a ball. Tears wouldn't stop dropping from her eyes.
