Logan went to say something, probably to take me away from Oscar but I spoke first.
"Excuse us." I said to the other drivers, grabbed Oscar's arm and stormed away. I took him to a corner and glared at him. He smiled at me sheepishly.
"Hey Alaina how are y-"
"No Piastri you don't get to do that. We date for four years and you randomly break up with me for no reason, don't even tell me why. Then two weeks later you are with another girl. 4 years you threw away in one day and it's like you didn't even care. I supported you all through karting and all of it for what? Now you're all famous and successful, she gets to take all the credit for it and I'm left wondering what I did wrong. So tell me Piastri, what was it? What could I have done to make you want me more?" My voice was breaking a bit and the tears in my eyes stung.
"Alaina, you never did anything. I can't tell you why I broke up with you yet. One day maybe, but not yet. But I am really sorry, and its something I think about constantly."
"Yet you went to her." I said, not able to control the tears anymore. "I loved you with all my heart. You broke it, Piastri, you fucking destroyed it and loved her instead. Did yo-, did you ever even love me?"
Oscar stopped for a second and looked down.
"We broke up. Lily and I. About a month ago."
That was the last thing I expected to hear ome out of his mouth. "Are you okay?" I asked after a moment.
"I think so. I wasn't for a while but I am now. It's hard."
"I know."
There was silence. Until Logan came over.
"Hey Oscar. Lani we should be going now."
"Okay thanks Logan. I'm driving this time though."
He sighed and gave me keys, muttering something under his breath. I gave Oscar a small smile.
"Lani"
"Yes Piastri?"
"I did love you. I promise."
I smiled at him. For real this time.
"What was that all about?" Logan asked me as we walked out.
"Nothing. Nothing much. Oscar and Lily broke up though."
"Oh." He paused. "Are you happy?"
I thought for a moment. I hated Lily with my whole heart, but I still had strong feelings about Oscar. Not the same way as I used but Ialways will. "No. I don't like seeing him like this"
Logan seemed satisfied with that answer. It's a good thing Logan is extremely awful at picking lies.
