When one stopped to catch its breath, Alana sped up and jumped on the same branch grabbing the lizard's tail. Before its sharp fangs could remove her hand, she activated her gauntlet blades, and in a flash horizontal motion removed the lizard's head. "Yessss!" she screamed in victory, but the lizard's body fell from the branch, pulling Alana with it down. Her victory scream turned in a second, in one of fear, as the height of the fall was big enough to wound her gravely.
Letting off the lizard's tail, she tried to grab the branches passing in speed by her. But they were too slippery and her human hands could not hold the grip. Just as all hope left her, the invisible body of Tha'dqa slammed into her. His arms grabbed her tight then in a few small jumps took her down on the ground unharmed. He deactivated his camouflage device and started to click and growl at her in rage.
"Wow, that was a scare, thanks for catching me. I didn't think that lizard was so heavy," she said laughing and ignoring his angry sounds. It was dangerous indeed, she would have broken a bone or two, maybe wounded an organ even, but she could heal. So she was not taking his attitude very seriously.
"I've told my warriors to not get hot-blooded when hunting because of your power, but it seems the one I should have been worried about the most was you. For Paya, you are just like a suckling!" He snapped angrily at her, but she could pick up the worry in his voice and she liked that.
"Come on big guy, chill. I would have been able to heal any damage done, I know myself," she coed him. But Tha'dqa wanted none of it. He was still feeling the fright gripping his insides at the sight of her falling. He hated that feeling. He could not stand to see her in danger, no matter how fast she could heal. "You will not hunt from now on until you study your prey well. Or I will keep you safe on the ship, out of harm's way. Do you understand me?" he growled at her, his jaws flaring.
Alana didn't like to be screamed at and criticized, or threatened to be kept closed in the ship. But she appreciated his care, it made her feel less alone. He was using a small knife to take the lizard's wings and before he was done she went next to him and asked for the knife. He looked at her for a second then gave it to her and stood up. Alana finished cutting the skin, then plucked all red feathers and sharp teeth. "Tha'dqa can we hunt one more, I want to make myself some clothes and these wings are not enough," she asked him with puppy eyes.
He huffed annoyed that the coverings he gave her were not to her liking and nodded affirmatively. He took a small thing out of his belt that extended into a big enough bag to take all her hunt spoils. He looked on his data-com map for lizard signs and then he started walking in their direction. She followed buzzing around him to smell or study more closely the flowers and plants she found interesting. Alana even gathered some and started to knit them into a large crown.
When the crown, made with yellow and red flowers was done she stopped in front of him. Grabbing one of his dreads, she pulled until he lowered his head enough for her to reach it with her hands. What followed made the mighty predator freeze in place at the absurdity of the action. She placed the flower crown on his head, smiling so brightly like she just hunted a kiande amedha queen all by herself. He huffed uncomfortable, but seeing her so happy made him keep his mouth shut and accept the embarrassing flowers adorning him now.
