Yep, this is it. The photo that sparked this entire book. All because we collectively agreed that he looked like a librarian. This switches between 3rd, 2nd,  person, btw....

As Liam sat behind a desk, slowly watching as the second hand darted across the clock marking that the minutes were indeed passing, he absentmindedly stamped books before setting them on a cart outside the desk to later be put back on their respective shelves.

He sighs in boredom before his ears catch someone's light footsteps and an all too familiar tune being hummed fastly approaching. He silently groans but immediately stops when he sees who is standing before him. Involuntarily, a light blush coats his cheeks, and he clears his throat, trying not to seem too rude.

"Hey..." He trails off, trying to find what to say without making this interaction too awkward. "Is there something that I can help you with?" His brown orbs scan y/e/c, waiting for a reply.

"Uh... yeah. I just have an overdue book that I came to renew. That's all." You awkwardly said, watching as the elbow Liam propped himself on was slowly sliding across the desk. It gave out on him, but he'd managed to catch himself and regain his composure pretty quickly.

You handed him your book, and he used the barcode scanner thingy to scan the barcode. You had been ready to hand him the money that came with the late fee, but he quickly pushed your hand back to you, saying, "Don't worry about the fee. It's on the house, love." His British accent really popping at the 'Love'.

As you were about to grab the book back to take home and continue reading, the faint sound of two sets of footsteps erupted, and then suddenly a crash. The cart that Liam had been putting the books on had been knocked over by some rowdy children running around. While they had been immediate to go and clean up their mess, you being the great person you were, decided to go and help them with the mess they had made.

Liam saw this as an opportunity to get your attention indirectly. So, he quickly grabbed a loose piece of paper and a pen from the side, and jotted down his number along with a sweet little note, placing it where he saw where the bookmark marked your page.

Here's my number, love. Enjoy your book.

You turn back to Liam and hear him whistling a song from One Direction. "No way! You listen to One Direction, too?" He quietly snickers to himself before answering, "More than most people." You send him a small smile, happy that you found slight common ground with this friendly stranger.

*At home*

After a long day of doing absolutely nothing, you finally decided to go ahead and lay down on your bed and continue reading the book that you had just renewed earlier today. You turn the page and find a folded piece of paper inside. You take it out and open it: "Here's my number, love. Enjoy your book." You feel both nervousness (along with confusion) and excitement seeing the librarian's number, you debate calling him. You get nervous before calling and usually text instead. You get your phone and type in the number.

So, as Liam lied in bed waiting for Y/N to call him, his phone notification went off, signaling someone had texted him. His first thought was that it was one of the boys texting to annoy him, but that was quickly disproven when he read the text. "Hey, this is Y/N from the library. Just making sure this is actually the right number."

Liam smiled to himself. He pondered for a moment, deciding what to reply with. Eventually, he settled on something, cliche. "Nice to meet you! I'm Liam, Liam Payne."

Back at your place, you read the text, and for the absolute life of you, you can't figure out why the name sounds so familiar. Eventually, the answer does come to your mind, and you feel both dumb and ashamed to even be allowed to call yourself a Directioner.
