It was around midnight when Y/n heard slight taps originating from her window. She wasn't afraid of what it might have been, as she had been waiting all night for this. She quickly grabbed her perfume and sprayed one final dose on her before walking over to her window.
She opened it and began to whisper-shout at the boy standing below waiting for her. "Louis! I was wondering when you were gonna come and get me! I've been waiting here for an eternity!" She smiled, looking down on him.
"Sorry, love. Got caught up with the boys. But I'm here now, aren't I? Come on down!" She laughed and double-checked behind her, looking at her makeshift dummy lying still in her bed. Hopefully, it would fool her parents if they were to, for some reason, come up and check on her in the middle of the night, or Louis would be putting flowers on her casket.
She skilfully hopped down from a couple of sturdy branches, and eventually, she was standing next to Louis. "I know I could never do that. It's impressive, to say the least, Y/n." She put her hands on her hips and turned to face him. "Well, you can sing, which is something I can't do. We each have our strengths. Now come on!" She grabbed his hand and began to pull him along through her neighborhood.
The two of them had walked past countless street signs, most of which Louis was unfamiliar with. But Y/n knew exactly where she was taking him to. "We should totally stop at that store later. It's open all night, and I'm bound to get hungry eventually."
"We'll get to that when the problem arises, Y/n. Now, where are you taking me? We've been walking for ages." She playfully rolled her eyes at him. "You'll see sooner or later. Now come on, we're almost there!" She heard him mutter, "If you say so, love." Under his breath.
Y/n had stopped in her tracks, causing Louis to almost walk into her, but luckily, he stopped himself. "We're here." She spoke without facing him. Louis' eyes traced the place, taking in all its contents. It was a children's playground. Now, obviously, at this time of night, there were no children, leaving just the two of them there.
She excitedly turned towards Louis. "So what should we do first? Climb the slides? Go on the swings? See who can hang upside down on the monkey bars the longest? I'll even let you pick!" Louis smiled, seeing as she was so excited over just being at a park. Her features were dimly lit up by the street lights, but he could see her so clearly. Her eyes sparkled like the stars in the night sky.
"Why don't we go to the swings first?" She glanced over her shoulder to look at them, conjuring an idea in her head. She quickly whipped back around to face him. "I'll race you. Last one there has to push the other one for three minutes!" She didn't even give Louis time to process what she said because if she had, she knew he'd beat her.
Louis watched Y/n take off running. He stood watching her for a good second. Her words finally processed through Louis' brain, and he smirked. As he ran after Y/n, he could hear her laughing. "Bet you'll never catch me, Tomlinson!" She was taunting him. This only made her laugh harder as Louis took the opportunity to pass her and ultimately ended up beating her to the swings. Louis smiled triumphantly. "A bets a bet, Y/n."
She sighed and playfully put her hands on her hips and shook her head. "I'll do it, but I won't enjoy a single second of it." A laugh left Louis' lips. "Aren't you the one who proposed to race me? You knew what you were getting into." She kicked a pile of woodchips before responding. "Yeah, well, I was imagining myself winning."
"Maybe one day. Now, let's fly!" He jogged over to the swing and sat down, waiting for Y/n to push him. "You look like a child." She said through a grin. He jokingly scoffed. "And what would be the difference if it were you over here, Y/n?" She snickered. "I never said it was a bad thing, Louis. Just an observation."
