I'm Tala (TAH-LA) Maria Cosette Valle. I know it's a mouthful but my mom is Filipino, it's like a staple to have a million names on your birth certificate. But of course I just go by Tala.
Anyways!
My story starts off with me living my everyday life as a deaf woman. ✌︎
I developed my deafness at a young age and it was when I started failing my hearing tests in elementary school that my mom took notice. So, if any of you have met a Filipino mom, you know just how dramatic they can be when something happens to their child. Let's just say lots of tears were shed that day.
I wasn't scared though, I was actually a very shy kid. So when I learned how to sign, I used that to my advantage, instead of my voice I just use my hands and mouth the words, unless it's people who don't really know sign, I kind of have to use my voice.
I do wear a hearing aid on my left ear since I still have some hearing, as for my right ear, might as well be screaming into the void. I don't hear a thing.
My usual routine consists of working at my local library in San Francisco, CA. Which is a very convenient job for me. As well as helping my mom with her catering business. I honestly don't have anything to complain about. I get to read and eat lumpia on the regular.
I love my little life, it's calm and simple, I didn't feel the need for anything or anyone else to be part of it. But as a woman nowadays things can't always go smoothly for you because a man just comes along to interrupt it. And in my case that man happens to be Lando Norris....
I won't spoil anything for you because you'll just have to read and find out. Hm. Laughing to myself as I end this entry.
